I just got my PSA results and it was 6.38 so I am
going to a urologists June 19th. I had a biopsy
done a year and a half ago and everything was
fine. God forbid, if I do have cancer, does anyone
know if frequent ejaculation can cause cancer to
spread? I am 61 years old and my sex drive is
stronger than ever but I worry about the
possibility of spreading cancer by frequent
ejaculation. ( About 3 times a week )
Thanks

Your urologist will be so envious. Ask him.

Or her.

Hello, Rod:
Sorry to hear about the high PSA, but don't get too far ahead of
yourself. It could be BPH, or prostatitis. Has your doc ordered a
free PSA test? This will measure the percentage of PSA that is not
bound to proteins in the blood; the higher the percentage, the lower
the chances that you have PCa. Ask your doc about it. Might be a
good idea to have that done before a second biopsy.
Biopsies can miss tumors, unfortunately. Some men on this NG report
having had several biopsies before any of the samples contain a bit of
tumor.
When you ask about spread, do you mean spreading within your own body,
or spreading it to a partner? I haven't seen anything linking
frequency of ejaculation with tumor growth rate. Maybe someone else
has. If there were some danger of tumor tissue finding its way into
semen and infecting a partner, we'd see cases of PCa in women.
You might want to start reading up on your prostate. The Prostate
Book, by Peter Scardino, is a good source of information about the
gland, as is The Prostate, by Patrick Walsh. Both books deal not only
with PCa, but also with the other things that plague the prostate, as
well as pretty thorough descriptions of how the prostate works.
Should you get the diagnosis of PCA (and let's hope you don't!) ,
there are some additional books to look at: Prostate Cancer for
Dummies, by Lange, and A Primer on Prostate Cancer, by Strum, as well
as several others.
Good luck, Rod.

If anything, frequent ejaculations probably protect you somewhat from
getting prostate cancer. See, for example

But I wouldn't count on it. Just go about what you do normally and
don't worry about it.

The answer is, "no." I can, however, raise your PSA by 10% or so. So try
to abstain before PSA tests.
All seriousness aside, did you quit when you thought you would go blind?
What makes you think you would quit now? :-)
Back to a straight face.... You need to pursue a 6.38 PSA. I could be
several things, including cancer, none of which should be allowed to fester.

A friend of mine said there is some diabolical force that chips away
at man's most enjoyable event with PC. I can just hear the snide
laughter from afar.
