I posted I had a PSA test run in 03/07 and it was 3.2 and my brother in law
a family physician suggested see a urologist given my age 45. I have 2.5
psa two years ago, 2.7 last year. and then the 3.2 and I was pretty
concerned although no symptoms. Well I have the biopsy last week and today
the results were ok normal. My urologist though they would be since the DRE
showed an enlarged prostate and he said that was in my favor.
So at this point I am grateful and have been reading the newsgroup.
Naturally I need to always keep an eye on what is going on and we are going
to do another psa in 6 months but for now I am thanking God. I did want to
let the newsgroup know that I will hold all in prayer. I have many things
going on and this sort of had me thinking as I approach ordination as a
Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church on May 19 next month. I pray for all
you intentions for prostate cancer tomorrow night at Adoration. 5 pm.

I'm happy to hear, Deacon Mike, that you will not be a member of our club;
at least not any time soon. Your BIL is a good doc and an enlarge prostate,
while a concern, is certainly no match for prostate cancer.
Congratulations on your ordination. Happy Easter!

Mark,
I'm glad to hear that you do not have cancer. It is a bummer at
any age but especially so for a relatively young man. (When I was
45 I felt anything but young, but looking back on it from 60, it's
beginning to seem young.)
Thank you for your kind wishes for all of us.

I learned the hard way that a negative biopsy doesn't mean that you don't
have cancer, rather it means that cancer was not detected in the biopsy
sample.

That's great news, Mark. I hope you stay cancer-free for many years
to come.

Almost exactly my story....except for the ending.
I was 48, PSA 4.5 and a large symptom-free prostate. Uro was
surprised when biopsy hit cancer in 2 samples.
Did they do a free PSA before the biopsy - you didn't mention it.
Mine was 17%, should be over 25% if no cancer.
