Hi All,
I have spent time lurking and reaching out a few times. Paul's
surgery was November 6, 2006. He has done very well getting back on
his feet. Thanks to all the wondeful support here we got through
surgery with everything we needed. The recliner still was the best
thing we ever did. Paul's path report show his margins clean but
seminle vesicles were involved. Please forgive my misspelling.
Anyway, we are do back for 1st PSA next month. This week Paul noticed
a nodule, I am assuming a lymph node, in his pelvic area. He first
noticed on both sides but then both went away or he could not feel
them with his hand. He has noticed it mostly after running. He now
only noticed it on one side. He is assuming he should call the Dr. I
cannot tell you how I know we should but at the same time it scares
the hell out of me too. I just wanted to know if anyone has had any
situation like this one. To further update. Paul is only using one
pad a day these days and still no real action on the ED side but we
are working on it.
Thanks, Lisa

I wanted to add to this. Paul wanted to know if anyone has had a
problem with hemoroids after surgery. He had a bit of trouble off and
on prior to surgery but he has had a horrible time since surgery.
After reading this could be the cause of the swelling. I don't know
that I feel better about that because I worry they might be getting
infected. I have encouraged him to see a Dr. about them but he wants
to continue to try and resolve it on his own. It is so bad it wakes
him up in the night and I have armed him with a huge arsenal to fight
the battle of the bulges.
Thanks again

*MEN!*
Get the dumbass -- hell, get your whole husband -- to a doctor toot
sweet. I treat a bad hair day myself; everything else I take to a doctor
if I don't *know* exactly what is wrong and how to treat it. Yesterday,
for example: got a calf cramp that didn't respond correctly to proper
muscle cramp protocol, so I dropped by a clinic. They said, "Get your
leg to an emergency room, now! Calf blood clots can kill." ER evaluated
it, pronounced it a muscle strain with cramps, said
I was wise to consult them, and told me exactly what symptoms should
send me back immediately.
Now, that was my *LEG*, not my crotch or my butt. At least phone the nurse.

Hi All, I wanted to update on Paul's and his uncomfortable situation.
He finally did go to the Dr. and low and behold the reason he was in
such pain is the over the counter meds he was using on his hemroids
was causing an allergic reaction which he continued to feed by
applying more medicine. Amazing! Dr. gave him cream with a steroid
and told him in some cases to just do nothing and it would get
better. He is 80% better at this point.
We see surgeon on March 12 for our first psa test since surgery. I
will update you once we hear any news.
Thanks, Lisa

As you know, Lisa, none of us (at least none that remain) are doctors.
However, I have never heard PCa presenting itself as you have described
Paul's nodule.
However, I have heard many people blame all sorts of ailments on the
possibility of cancer return or cancer spread.
I would not worry about it. But, if that is not possible, have him call his
doctor for an opinion.

Lisa.
Sorry I have not been monitoring the site, and I missed your call for
hemeroidal issues.
I had serious hemerroids after my surgery, and I returned to the
hospital 3 days after discharge from the hospital.
After confirming the Roids were in fact Roids, I was told to do sit
baths and use prep H.
In hind site, no pun intended, the pressure post surgery of the
changes in the lower tract probably complicated the minor Roid issues
I had. Surprising enough, after 2 weeks, the Roids disappeared almost
entirely. I suspect that was the result of some weight loss, and
better eating habits. I personally have found that coffee and other
caffiene drinks aggravate the Roids.
Hope all is improving with Paul..
Cliff..
PS.. 9 months post surgery, 98% continent, but still working on return
to potency..but enjoying life anyways.
