I cannot say that I leaked more when I was using the injections. Not
sure I have heard that complaint before either. I will be interested
in others' experience with that???
The pills do not work for you?

Dear Gary,
> i had an ED specialist inject a reduced dose of the injection to see if it would produce an erection. i did get about a 25% erection, as
expected. the problem is that i have been experiencing more stress
leakage over the subsequent week. i am going to tell the doctor,
but i am also interested in others experience with this or of any info
available.

Yes, long time no speak, Gary. My husband has used injections for
several months, but I'm not aware of his having had any stress
incontinence as a result (he has had a bit of it, but I'm sure it's
independent of the injections).
I do know that what can happen is that at ejaculation, a man may expel
a tiny amt. of clear fluid, and it has been said that that might be
urine. However, in my experience, this is insignificant; definitely
not "leakage".
I looked at the "full prescribing info" on caverject.com. It does not
say anything at all about a relationship between injections and
incontinence.
I don't know anything about "stress incontinence", but is it possible
that it may be triggered by "stress" in the old-fashioned sense, maybe
a feeling of nervousness at having to stick a needle in oneself?
I did a search and found one item linking injections with incontinence,
but the responding doctor seemed to think it's about a 1/million
occurrence. I will cite it here, but I really don't know the context
of this article, and what the injections were used for, in this
instance.

Subject: Unusual things after a penile doppler test..
Hello everyone..I have been done a penile doppler test 3 months ago.
After an injection
of caverject i have been on an erection of 6 hours . . . And after 8
hours of that injection i have developed a stress type incontinence
and an urge to urine always regardless of the amount of urine while i m
standing or moving.
But while lying down i m in comfort but for now it is impossible for me
stand or move
without the urge. *The doctors say it can be one of a million but
possible.* All the tests including URODYNAMICS done but nothing found
useful and my last resort is cystoscopy for the diagnosis. I know i m
cared by the best doctors but the the incontinence is ruining my life.
. . . I m 27 years old and dont know what to do for that strange
situation
.thanks
Dear Mike,
I don't know why you have developed stress incontinence or urge
incontinence after using caverject. . ..
To address the incontinence, it sounds like your doctors have started a
work-up for you. The urodynamics with CMG should show if your bladder
is functioning properly. There was a mention of prostatitis in 2% of
users, maybe your irritative symptoms are secondary to inflammation in
your prostate. I am not clear as to whether the episodes of
incontinence always follow your use of the drug.
If there is this association, then I think that you are most likely
developing retention (inability to empty your bladder). With an
overstretched bladder, the urine may "run out" just like water over
a damn. Thus, the positional nature of you problem. You may need to
have urodynamics done after you have been give the medication. However,
the further use of this drug for you sounds to be full of problems and
it sounds as if you need to look at other options.
** Again, there is no mention of urgency incontinence or stress
incontinence in the PDR as a side effect. **
It did mention irritation and sensitivity, but these are both vague
terms. It sounds like your doctors are on the
right tract,
[I should hope so. Like on the urinary tract! If your doc is
elsewhere, chances are she's on the wrong track. <g>;]
stick with there advice and hopefully your symptoms will clear up.

Don't think this is you, Gary. I think you are on course if, after
almost 3 mos. you are using one pad a day. As far as the other issues,
you have to talk to your doctor. My anatomy and physiology aren't up
to speed.
good luck,
Leah
I had my RP over two years ago and don't know if this will help, Gay,
because I am on of the fortunate ones that didn't really have any
incontinence from the time they pulled the catheter out.. However, in the
same breath, I immediately developed the philosophy "when it's time to go -
I go"... As soon as I feel the urge to go - I look for a place to do just
that. With that said, I have had bouts of incontinence when: 1) I drank too
much beer just before retiring for the evening (whew - no pad would sop THAT
up - so, I stopped much liquid intake after 6 pm) 2) sometimes when I would
try giving "willy" some practice - especially when that resulted in climax
or proximity thereof...
And, I have just started using "injections" (very successfully) a little
(ah, a distant memory) over a month ago - and, noticed that during and for
awhile afterwards I sometimes have a little bit of "leaking".. especially
after I would go to the bathroom.. The actual leaking would cease fairly
soon, but I would feel the need to "find a urinal" a bit more urgently for a
few days after that...
Again, Gary, not exactly your situation - but, in my humble “hands-on” (lol)
opinion - there is definitely a connection between erections (“injections”)
and "leaking"...
