I noticed some self testing kits behind the counter at my local CVS
pharmacist and asked to look at the one which said "prostate".  It
turned out to be a PSA test.  You prick you finger, collect a blood
sample somehow, and send it to a lab.   I didn't check to see if you
needed any sort of prescription or if you could just do this on your own
initiative.  Also, I wonder how accurate such a test could be since it
uses a very small blood sample.

Has anyone heard anything about such things?

A quick check of WebMD resulted in a link to

or

$40, on special for $34.95.

I just sent an email to those folks asking them how accurate,
sensitive and precise their tests are.  If they reply, I'll share the
answsers on the newsgroup.
