Hello Everyone, I hope this post finds you all well. This group was recommended to me by someone who has exoperience with prostate cancer and who has been extremely helpful in providing me with insight into what it is like to have this diagnosis. I am currently doing a PhD on quality of life in prostate cancer in the hope of creating interventions to enhance quality of life. If anyone would be willing to complete two questionnaires for me, I would be very grateful. Responses to these questionnaires will help me learn what is most important to individuals such as yourself so that I can take the most appropriate choices in my intervention development. If anyone would be kind enough to spare some time, I would really appreciate it. I saw that she was probably in England due to the time zone and WHOIS flipped me over to Amsterdam, which then took me to Cranfield University in England, but there were so many names at this University, I decided not to publish them.....this could be a forgery. And you are right.....real researchers usually use their work email address, I would think. Most PhDs, at least the one's I've met, are funny about little things like, well, spelling, grammar, accuracy, etc. And, I don't think you would find a PhD caught dead hitting up a newgroup for questionnaire fodder. I tend not to add my university email address to internet sites due to it potentially being picked up and used for junk mail. However, I am more than happy to give my uni email to anyone who emails my hotmail account, if this will put their mind at ease. I am collecting questionnaires at my local oncology clinic also, but it is proving to be diffficult to get the number I need. I am therefore using the internet to try to access a wider group of people from different backgrounds and with different levels of cancer. I am very passionate about my work because I have a family history of cancer; I will therefore treat any responses with a great deal of confidentiality. No names will be used in my write up. I do hope that through the questionnaires I will be able to discover the most important quality of life issues faced by individuals with cancer so that I can work towards raising awareness in this area and also possibly developing some kind of quality of life intervention. I apologise for any discomfort I may have caused for anyone, but please do feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I am more than happy to answer your queries. And equally stunned that my research found you at Cranfield University. We tend to ignore the sort of thing you asked simply because the authors are usually spammers and/or scammers. Pushing silly cures for cancer and the like. Good luck with your work. I think most of us have families where more than one person is afflicted with a cancer of one sort or another. I suggested that she post here after first encountering her in another online prostate cancer support group. I completed her survey and have corresponded with her.
