I guess I spoke too soon.....now we are being flooded from that
homosexual political group, it seems. If you have never used Message
Rules before, I have typed out how to use it to suppress these idiotic
floods of posts.
For those using Outlook Express, I would suggest you pick out a word in
the subject line and filter on that.
Use "fascism" or "Foley" or both.....and do the following.....
1. In OE, click on Tools, then extend Message Rules and click on News.
2. Click on New.....tick off the box referring to the SUBJECT line.....
3. In the second part, tick off DELETE and Stop Processing More Rules.
4. In the third part you will now see "contains specific words" in
blue.....click on that.
5. In the box that comes up, put "fascism" and hit add. You can add
another word or 3 if you wish from that subject line.....i.e. Foley.
OK your way out and if you did it right, you will see no more posts from
these mental midgets. If they change the subject line......you add one
or two of the words to your Message Rule.
If you have any questions, let me know. For those using other than
Outlook Express, work out some sort of filter for your news reader.
Good luck.......and I swear all of the nutbars in the Universe use the
Alt groups. We put up with months of AUK idiots on our antivirus group.
But I have most of them individually blocked.
Cheers.....Heather

I haven't seen any of that, but I'm a Mac person.
I think I know what an idiot is, but what the heck is "AUK"?

LOL.....I did mention them in another post, but they are absolute WORST
group of annoying, useless idiots on Usenet.
AUK....alt.usenet.kooks.
I have no idea what their excuse for breathing is. And their language
is absolutely filthy. So I got a lot of practice filtering them out.
The problem is they scare the heck out of nice ordinary people who come
to our groups to get help with viruses and malware. Sigh......

How large can a killfile be? Does the presence of many entries slow down
the editing process?

Mine was pretty big, Ken. They morphed repeatedly into variations of
their original fake names. I know it took a while to take a lot of them
out of there. Just checked and there are still 21 in my Blocked Senders
area. I also have a couple of subject lines blocked under News.
No....it doesn't seem to slow anything down. Blocked Senders can be
used for private email or news groups. Email goes into the Delete
Folder.....but news posts are simply not downloaded. I have used both
and it doesn't slow this computer down.
Btw.....Bob & Carole have also been hitting on the alt.privacy.spyware
group with the same junk and I finally followed my own advice re their
'fascism/Foley' subject line. Who needs the aggravation.

Thank you, Heather. I have a pretty good sized killfile now though not
quite as large as yours, and I have some of the same issues about keeping
and eventually removing some of them. Checking the responses to posters who
continue to answer the pests gives me an idea of who's still polluting the
pool.

i thought about this..... and i know that two wrongs don't make a right,
but when we get a cross post like this, we should send a cross post
over to their offending newsgroup.
that would probably start a flaming situation, so i won't entertain the
thought, but just wanted to get it off my chest.
this is one time it's better to let sleeping dogs lie and this thread
will run its course and delete itself.
