Unfortunately, I lost the original post, but want to reply to whoever asked
me the question. Sorry!!
Anyway, not sure why the surgeon said no sex for eight weeks. Maybe he
wants to give the repaired nerves time to heal? Guess we'll find out on
Nov. 20 when we go back for the first post-op PSA and the final cancer
report.

This is a new one to me Jean? I wonder why the long wait? I was active
the day after the cath came out, and I credit this activity as one of the
reasons for my continued success 4 years later.

The literature and my docs say to start exercising the erection and
orgasmic system as soon as the surgeon feels the incisions have healed
safely. The erectile system, in particular, needs constant reminders of
how it's supposed to work or it can forget altogether.
DAMN! ;-)

Everything has gone so well with the surgery and recovery that we're not
going to question the 'no sex for 8 weeks' order. Although, hubby did say
if he has a dream and things happen, it's not something he could control.
:o} I think he's wanting to find out if it still works but is a little (a
lot) nervous about it.

Jean,
I'm really surprised to see the replies you've gotten. I had LRP over
three years ago and my directions were to "definitly" not have sex for six
weeks as I had a lot of internal trama from the surgery and having sex
before everything was healed could cause scarring and other problems down
the road. I had mine done at Indiana University Hosptital in Indianapolis,
In. You might want to get a second opinion from a medical authority on this
issue before you proceed with this forums advise.

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your input. Everything has gone so much better than we could
have imagined that we're not going to do anything to jeopardize that. The
surgeon said 8 weeks -- 8 weeks it will be. I'm sure he is wanting the
re-built nerves to heal before anything happens and that's fine with us.
My husband's surgery was done at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical
Center in Houston. The surgeon is amazing and we would recommend him to
anyone. I've said this before, but there hasn't been one single drop of
leakage so we're more than pleased with the surgeon's abilities.
I guess I should post my husband's story. I've talked about bits and pieces
but not the whole thing. :o}
Thanks,
Jean
