Irritable bowel syndrome post treatment

My dad found he had prostate cancer just over a year ago and was swiftly
treated with both hormones and radiotherapy. He was originally mid-way on
the Gleeson scale and his PSA was about 6.0. Now it seems he was successful,
with regular examinations and PSA test results that are constantly and
drastically falling (now 0.2 ish).

The only ill effects from his treatment has been irritable bowel
syndrome.....constipation, and previously diarrhoea. He is wondering if this
will likely be a life-long symptom, or if there is a chance these symptoms
will eventually go away?

Thanks for any forthcoming answers.

I've been through both HT and RT and my bowel problems disappeared.
