NEW YORK- A public school teacher was arrested today at
John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted
to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a
protractor, a set square, a slide rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, Attorney General Alberto
Gonzalez said he believes the man is a member of the
notorious Al-gebra movement. He did not identify the
man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying
weapons of math instruction.

"Al-gebra is a problem for us," Gonzalez said. "They
desire solutions by means and extremes and sometimes
go off on tangents in search of an absolute value.
They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and
refer to themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have
determined they belong to a common denominator of
the axis of medieval with coordinates in every
country.  As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used
to say, 'There are 3 sides to every triangle.'"

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush
said, "If God had wanted us to have better Weapons of
Math Instruction He, would have given us more fingers
and toes."

... Firemen find them hot and leave them wet.

This is a serious danger.

Al-gebra nearly killed twelve students in my 8th grade
class.

Algebra is derived from an arabic word, and it was developed in the
Muslim world at a time when Europe was in the dark ages.  I suppose that
makes it even more suspicious, and I'm sure generations of children will
use that as a new reason to resist learning it.

Not just children.  I mentioned this Islam Al-gebra stuff to my 35 y.o.
sister-in-law who knows absolutely that everyone who lags behind her
enthusiasm for Jesus is destined for eternity in hell.  She has to take
Al-gebra soon at the local community college and we'll see if her
career choice is altered by this revelation.  She's already disgusted
with and may drop her first class, Sociology, in which the instructor
has introduced the religious beliefs of Native American culture.  She
actually has to learn this satan-inspired blather to pass the class.
How unfair.  Civilization is a fragile thing.

I had to laugh when I read this post because I think I'd die if I had to sit
through classes Judeo-Christian beliefs. Actually, I could handle it as long
as someone wasn't trying to SAVE me! But what makes this even funnier is I
have a wonderful dear old friend who will turn 79 this coming Monday. In her
kitchen is this horrible old clock radio with a mind of its own that flips
on and off for no reason. She loves to listen to some local gospel station
which isn't exactly local when you live out by the cattle fields so what she
hears is mostly static. So for her birthday gift I bought her a new clock
radio with CD and then proceeded to try and find her some gospel music on
CD, today. LOL. Talk about a fish out of water. There's country music
gospel, there's old gospel favorites, there's white folks gospel and there's
black folk's gospel, there's even Latino gospel, then there is new gospel,
pop gospel, and what the heck is praise music? So I went ennie, meanie,
minie, moe, and chose 4 CD's. I just hope she likes them - it's got be
better than listening to static with a blown speaker and a very old
receiver. Your daughter would have died laughing at me trying to choose
these CD's.

Just one correction.  My daughters (both of them) are pretty sane.  My
sister-in-law on the other hand ...

Sorry, my syncopated brain registered daughter not Sis-I-L. And probably
your daughters would have laughed at me too.

Interesting.  Pathagorea came up with his theorem before Muslims invented
Algebra?

That would surely explain why all the walls on the pyramids slanted inward.
