You might try Afrin nose spray WITH YOUR DOCTOR'S CONCURRENCE. It does wonders for engorged nasal tissues, but cannot be used for more than 2-3 days in a row.

You could try anti-histamines. However it is possible that you are not really getting sinus congestion, but just the strange feeling in the head that one gets from the dilation of blood vessels that viagra causes.
Are you using viagra for sex, or as a regular, every day drug, prescribed for the purpose of keeping the blood flowing into the penis?
I asked my urologist about that second use of viagra. He said he thought there were fads in urology as in all medicine and in everything else. He wasn't convinced that anyone had shown that using viagra in this way actually achieves anything. He didn't think it did.
If you want to stick with the viagra, you might try cutting back the dose. If you get the flushed feeling with 50 mg and with 100 mg, I would think that indicates that more than 50 isn't doing you that much good, 50 is enough. Then try 25 mg.
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that the minimal dose that gives you some flushed feeling is all you benefit from.
I'm also thinking it's a bad idea to take viagra on a regular basis, and anti-histamines along with it. Then you'll want something to counter the sleepiness of the anti-histamines, and something to counter the jitteriness of the thing that counters the sleepiness, and then ... who knows.

Never tried this, but I understand taking a small portion of the pill on a nightly basis keeps things headed in the right direction for when you really want it. I may be wrong, but I think some have experienced less SEs doing it that way. There is a couple of other ED drugs too, that you might want to try. I understand some work where Viagra fails.

Also, it got a lot better with continued use.
A decongestant ought to clear your sinuses.
gary.miller12@comcast.net - 28 Aug 2006 06:13 GMT thank you Leonard decongestants get me wired up. how long did it take to get better with continued use? is it a problem if not used every day? gary

Viagra was the first thing I tried after surgery to induce an erection, but it didn't work. I got a snuffy nose, a mild headache, and the typical blue haze. I tied it periodically to see if it made any difference, but there was no change. During this time I relied on a pump which worked reasonably well. After about 18 months, I found I was getting something approaching a natural erection, so I tried Viagra again, and this time it did improve my erections signficantly. I used between 50 amd 100 mg, usually the lower amount as half a 100 mg pill. I used it about once a week, sometimes more often. The blue haze mostly and headache mostly went away, but the snuffiness persisted, lessening over time. These days I hardly notice it unless my nose is stuffy to start with.
I was much more concerned about the possible side effects on my retinas because of the blue haze. My opthamologist reassured me about that. More recently it was reported that some men with heart disease and a certain kind of macula were apt to face blinddness from use of Viagra and similar drugs. I don't have any symptoms of heart disease, although at age 73 you never can be sure about that. More important, my opthamologist told me I don't have that macula condition.
I also tried Cialis, which worked as advertised, but I found it did tend to induce some backache and muscle pains. These aren't too serious, but it is hard to distinguish them from the beginning of a more serious condition. Since I have four herniated discs and spial stenosis, I thought it wise not to use that drug.

Claude - 28 Aug 2006 14:28 GMT > thank you Leonard > decongestants get me wired up. > how long did it take to get better with continued use? > is it a problem if not used every day? > gary I find that decongestant pills with pseudoephedrine in them are very effective at "clearing me up", but counteract the effect of Viagra. I'm not an MD or a pharmacist, but as I understand the two drugs, I think pseudoephedrine tends to raise blood pressure (people with high bp are advised not to use it), while Viagra lowers blood pressure (originally it was developed as an anti-hypertension drug). I may have the pharmacology wrong, but from personal experience I want to be off pseudoephedrine if I am going to use Viagra. I don't take anti-histamines, so I don't know if they would have the same effect. Once again, just my $.02. Claude

You're right Claude.
That's why I concur with I.P.'s idea of Afrin spray (or generic...every drug chain has their own brand)
A quick squirt...or 2..in each nostril usually works great...AND it's not affecting the whole body like Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) oral tablets.
Also, the thought of not using it for more than 3 days is based on those who use it SO much that they get 'rebound congestion' (the congestion comes back STRONGER) and the person bcomes addicted...sometimes using an entire spray bottle each day. (an extreme case).
Normally...a squirt or 2...just to clear up the Viagra-inducd stuffiness can be done pretty much every day you use Viagra without a problem.
But ANOTHER question for Gary...
Are you just asking for the future cuz I thought that you hadn't decided on treatment yet?
The others are correct...go to it.
Books...which you can find at Amazon or Barnes and Noble include...
books by Walsh, Scardino, Strum...and the 'Prostate Cancer for Dummies' book. (which is good...despite the name.)
The very best wishes to you from us all,
Ron B.
