I'm scheduled for a prostate biopsy on Monday. I've read that blood in
semen afterward is common for about a month, I think. Not long ago,
after a cystoscope exam, I found that ejaculation was accompanied by
severe burning a few days after - I suppose due to urethral
inflammation caused by the procedure. (My urologist gave me no advance
warning about this!)
What has been the experience of others here with respect to erections
and ejaculation after undergoing a biopsy?
Many thanks.

You shouldn't have any issues with erections. You may have blood in the
urine, stools, and ejaculate. The ejaculate is usually the last to
resolve.
It may start out pinkish.. and then turn a rust or beige color that can
last
quite a long time (few weeks to months even!)
It is entirely harmless to you and your wife.

Thanks for the reply.
You answered part of my question. The other part is whether there is
likely to be discomfort or pain during sex following a biopsy?
Thanks again.

I had absolutely no pain nor any discomfort after the biopsy. Make sure
that they give you a local anesthetic into your prostate first and
antibiotics afterwards.

I had blood in the urine only 4 or 5 days after both biopsies.

Neither biopsy had the slightest effect on erections or ejaculation.

I think they tell you to refrain for a few days. I've never heard anyone say
they had painful sex after a biopsy. The first ejaculate is apt to look like
ketchup - don't panic that is normal. It is also normal to have only a tint
of pink or brown in the ejaculate after a biopsy. It lessens with each
ejaculation.
If you are concerned about a partner try ejaculating the first couple of
times by hand so you know what you have.

I had a biopsy with no anaesthetics. I don't recall any
lingering pain from it and blood was barely detectable for
a couple of days in urine.
I don't recall any pain during ejaculation, though I may have
waited a few days before attempting anything. I don't
remember being in a very good mood at the time, and
my mood got a lot worse when the results of the biopsy
came back.

I don't recall any pain when resuming sex or any change in erections. I
remember that the urologist suggested holding off at least 48 hours,
which I did. The first ejaculation was a bloody, sticky mess and
subsequent ejaculations were bright red for a while. Eventually they
turned to a rusty color before the semen returned to normal after
several weeks. I also recall that about a week after the biopsy, my
urine flow suddenly stopped midstream and I had a very strange
sensation until a large blood clot emerged into the toilet and my
stream resumed. It was kind of shocking. I definitely agree with the
other responder who suggested bringing yourself off by hand first to
see what you've got. Be careful to avoid getting blood on sheets,
carpets, etc. You might also consider using condoms with your partner
for a while until the bloodiness resolves.

I agree, the biggest problem was complaints from my wife.
Condoms are rec'd for a couple weeks.

The blood is entirely harmless to either you or your partner, unless of
course you are HIV positive, in which case you should be using a condom
anyway.
I'm a bit puzzled by the thought that a woman might be squeamish about
blood in that vicinity---after all that happens regularly once a month
for several days---but I suppose each of us has his or her own hangups.

Why do you kiss your wife and then drink from a separate glass?

Hello,
I had blood in my semen for over 2 months following my prostate biopsy. Don't be
shy about it Masturbate and it will clear up much quicker.
