They first scheduled me for 40 treatments, but I confered with the PA
yesterday and he said they raised it to 42. I told him my hip had
started hurting again, he said,"yes, we thought so, we need more
x-rays." How did "we" know? Then the onc came in and asked how severe
the pain has been. I told her about a 3-5 most of the time, with
somedays a 7. Usually a 3-6 x-strength Tylenol days.
The machine they use has "Varian" up on the "eye?" that goes around me.
It hits 6 spots using 360 degrees. It goes under the table and
everything. Seems like it has "21C or 21E" written on it too. It looks
like a big, gray, 1950's sci-fi machine with a big eye on it. It's
bolted on a big, black, metal box that looks alittle like a huge, old
fashioned, school locker, but, 8' tall and 6 wide and 6 deep. There are
red laser dots coming from the ceiling, walls, computer screens
everywhere. Ultasound, and I can't remember what all.
Does this sound like everybody else's machine? And, Why can't that
thing take x-rays of my hip? It looks pretty smart and I'm on it
everyday. This place has an excellent reputation, but I can't help but
think they are just tryin to make payments on the machine.
Has anyone else ran into this type of problem?
Thank-you
David

I've been having those thoughts for 4 years. Can't help
but wonder why so many docs want to rush into RT
without discussing other treatment options with patients.

Hi Dave481!
Just wanted to say Hi and noticed you're just about at the half way mark through your
current treatment, so it'll soon be all downhill from there.
Sincerely wishing you the best!
