A recent study released

"HEAT THERAPY FOR CANCER MAY BE KEY TO "LANCE ARMSTRONG EFFECT") at
Johns Hopkins indicates the success of heat application in treating
Lance Armstrong's testicular cancer. We, on this group, also are aware
of other studies within the past year about the positive effects on
cancer cell apoptosis by ingesting heat-generating cumin and capsicum.

Charting my post-RP PSA test results of the past five years shows the
highest readings in January-February, and the lowest in June-July. I
live in New Hampshire, and winter temperatures stay below freezing for
months, often dropping well into sub-zeros.  Now I'm wondering if other
recent data showing prostate cancer incidence relative to geographical
latitude (higher incidence with higher latitude) might correlate more
with heat than vitamin D.

Any thoughts?

Ken:

I live in South Florida and got dx'd with Pca at 53. Lot's of sun and
plenty of heat down here! I thought maybe the other way around on the
heat issue. I kept imagining that by sitting at my desk job that my
prostate temp was higher, thereby causing inflammation, thus leading to
Pca. I have a feeling that we are both wrong!

I read Lance's book but don't recall anything about heat treatments.
He had chemotherapy and surgery.

I don't think those chemicals heat anything.  They taste hot because
of a chemical reaction that attacks the nerves of the tongue and mouth.
If you put pepper sauce on a thermometer it will not heat it.  It may cool
it slightly if any water in the sauce evaporates.

Heat from outdoors does not affect your prostate.  The prostate is an
internal organ that is well shielded from heat and cold outside and is
kept at a pretty even 98.6, or very, very close to it, no matter what the
temperature around you.  Your hands and feet may get cold outside,
but the organs inside your trunk will stay well regulated.  You can
confirm this for yourself with a rectal thermometer.

So I'd guess you are completely wrong in your surmise about heat.

Heat _can_ be used to kill cancer, for example with the new HIFU
treatment.  But that has nothing to do either with peppers or with the
temperature of the environment.

Well just to make sure come on down and visit! It is supposed to hit 110F
here tomorrow and Wed. The highest I saw today on the fancy electronic
thermometer our oldest gave us for Christmas was 102F or 39C today.

Tuesday is also National Night Out and the neighborhood has all sorts of
activities planned. They can do them without me. I'm staying inside in the
AC.
