I can across my "old" pathology report while cleaning my home office
today. (Shows you just how many times that I actually clean it).
It appears from the report that my particular tumor was found in both
anterior lobes and focally extends into the posterior lobes. I thought
that the anterior lobe is the portion of the gland lying in front of the
urethra. It is supposed to be devoid of any glandular tissue and
completely formed of fibromuscular tissue which is not subject to Pca.
I thought that Pca mostly happens the other way around...that posterior
tumors are a far more common breeding ground. (I know this now, not back
then).
Just wondering how many of you had similar pathologies, and any
particular thoughts that you'd like to share.

Bob...You're right that the anterior of the prostate is the "front".  A
significant portion (30-50%) of the anterior is occupied by the
peripheral zone.  The peripheral zone contains the majority of PCa
tumors.  One study found that the major tumor occurred in the anterior
of the prostate 16% of the time and 84% in the posterior...ron
