I had the AMS 800 installed about 16 months ago, due to increasing
incontinence from salvage radiation treatments several years ago. A couple
guys have posted recently saying that their experiences with the device have
been poor, a few have posted relating good results. I am one of the
fortunate ones. My pre-AMS 800 pad usage was up to 2-6 a day, depending on
activity levels. My current pad usage is 1 lite one a day, and most days it
is quite dry at days end. My absolute worst day now (lots of hard coughing,
tired, certain types of exertion) are far better than my best days before.
There are a few minor inconviences now and then, but I did not realize just
how inconvenient the incontinence was until I got rid of it. I am sure that
there will be more replies to your inquiry, but here's mine. Best of luck to
you.

I'm one of the success stories. 800 installed end of December. I highly
recommend it. If you have it done, ask the doc if he can locate the
device so the cuff isn't exposed to external compression. Mine is at
the back of my scrotom, just in front of the perineum. As a result, if
I sit forward or sideways in a chair the compression on the cuff causes
the cuff to deflate, in turn causing substantial (temporary) leakage.
My doc said he used the small cuff; that option appears to be important
for success (I've gotten the feeling that some of the non-success
stories resulted from a cuff not small enuf in diameter to be
effective). But of course rely on your doc's advise.
By "sit forward" I mean lean forward. Sitting normally is no problem.
