What tests have been performed? DRE (digital rectal examination)? PSA
(prostate {NOT prostRate}-specific antigen? Other?
Prostate cancer is the *least* likely explanation for JW's complaints,
but tests by a *competent* medic should result in reliable information.

My apologies for mispellng prostate. I was still groggy from anesthesia
yesterday and spelling was never my forte.
I have stage 4 colon cancer w/ mets to peritonium and omentum, diagnosed
12/22/05.. They debulked me as much as humanly possible on 12/23/05. It
is a rarer form of colon cancer as it also contained signet ring cell
cancer, which is what spread to my peritonium and omentum.
They say recurrance is inevitable and survival prospects are about two
years on average but I am simply refusing to believe them. My latest
scans showed some suspicious activity on other side of colon from where
my original tumor was and they showed this swelling of the prostate with
the cysts on the right side of it. No previous scans had shown any
prostate activity so I'm trying to find out what may be causing this. We
did a PSA blood test yesterday but won't have the results till next
week. What other tests might be needed?? I read that perhaps it may be
prostatitis but I figured I'd ask for opinions in this group. I hope it
isn't a sign of impending prostate cancer as I've had about enough
cancer. Just diagnosed this week with squamas (spelling) cel cancer on
my face.

JW, I'm sorry to say this but given your colon cancer prognosis, you
should not worry yourself about PCa. If it is affecting continence,
erectile function, or is uncomfortable, there are various drugs that
will reduce the size of your prostate and alleviate some of those
symptoms. But PCa is slow growing and is not likely to become a big
problem for you. Take care of your colon cancer, change your lifestyle,
and if you are lucky you can deal w/ PCa down the road. :-)
