I had brachytherapy in November, 2005.

Last week for the 1st PSA test.

        "1.9"

Dr, said not to be too concerned that there was a lot of variation.

j.

I was hoping to be less than 1 but 1.9 is ok too.

Yes, it seems like it could be all right.  I am surprised it was 7
months before a PSA test.  How often are you going to have them?  It
seems like I'd want them a *little* more often, to see the trends.
Good luck.  laurel

Due to some confusion between doctors my husband missed his 3 month PSA
test.

Nothing wrong with a 1.9 at this stage. It's under 2.0 It'll fall some more
the next time and I'll bet you'll see a big drop! That prostate is kicking
with all it has to keep from dying. This could easily be your bounce showing
up but you have nothing to compare it to so how would you know.

I thought you had a PSA in February and that was 3.1.  For Brachy, 3.1 to
1.9 is about what you want to see.  But, if I'm wrong about the February
PSA, I wonder what your doctor is thinking about letting you go this long
without a PSA test.

I had a psa reading last month of 1.3, 1 year after my brachytherapy.  My
doctor said there is a wide range and not to worry.  I'm happy to report
that everything is back to normal, although I do use Cialis occasionally for
an extra boost.

My PSA bounced up and down after HDR brachytherapy.  The
high point, at about 1 year, was 1.8, very similar to yours.  At
two years it was down to .2.  I'll get a 2.5 year reading next
week.

The same factors that raise PSA before treatment can also
raise it afterwards.  Sex and/or prostatitis before a test can
cause an artificially elevated PSA for radiation patients.

correction:

psa was 1.3

sex is better, but now i need glasses.

j.

the test in Feb was a the family doctor clinic.

this last was at the urologist.

it is my understanding that there is variation between labs, and that
for comparison, it is best to use the same lab.
