Had seed inplant 4 weeks ago, age 69, live in New York City. Received
notice to appear for jury duty, need bathroom to urinate every 30 - 40
minutes. Has anyone gotten an exemption from jury duty ????

I was excused from jury duty 10 years ago, shortly after my heart
attack. I couldn't drive 60 miles each way for duty, so the doctor wrote
a note for me and that was all it took. This was in Northern California,
don't know the rules in NYC.

Easily. I simply explained that I was incontinent following cancer
surgery and when my diaper filled, I'd have to leave the jury NOW. I
explained that I'd LIKE to serve someday, but not until I regained much
better control. I was given a permanent jury duty exemption as soon as
my doctor verified my surgery.

Call your court clerk and ask what you have to do. Every district, (parish,
etc.) and state will be different. You just have to ask.
I received notice several years ago and realized that the timing was
terrible for me. I had to appear before the judge and explain the situation.
I did, and he said fine and asked when would it be more convenient, and I
said early winter not spring. A few months later as early winter approached
I got my notice and did my duty.

Here in SE Pennsylvania, if you send a doctors note you get excused,
not matter what he writes.

My mother just had hip surgery and one week later got her summons. They
postponed based on a phone call. If she can't make it the next time, it'll
take a form from her doctor.
But, your county and state may vary.
