Has anyone in the group had a laser PVP AFTER seeds?  I am considering
a Holmium Laser PVP to remove some median lobe tissue from the
prostate.  I am eager to talk with anyone who had the same procedure
after brachytherapy.

I'm planning on having Green Light after IMRT.  The Urologist who will do it
said it might be a problem because the process relies on blood to vaporize
and cauterize the areas removed and the tissue which is left might not be
sanguinated enough, in which case it will have to be a mechanical TURP.

I would imagine heating up one of those seeds by accident would smart :-)

Let us know how it goes for you.

How lomg has it been since the seeds were inserted?  I don't think
you'd want to alter the prostate's structure 'til after the seeds have
done their job...ron

Sorry that i left out that I was seeded (Palladium) 11 months ago, and
have had severe retention ever since.

Palladium has a half-life of about 17 days, so you're way past 10
half-lives.  They've done whatever they were going to do, so you're
good to go...ron

Thanks fellows for the feedback. I will certainly let you know what
happens.  My Dr. has expressed concern about doing it in "necrotic
tissue"...... but I am past the end of my rope with severe retention
and willing to go for it.  he plans to be very conservative in what he
does, and I guess he favors the Holmium because it is cooler than the
others?

Have you tried self-cath?  Works for me.

I have self-cathed continuously for 11 months, and it is extremely
painful (due in part to the stricture in my urethra).  i also have
serious bowel complications -- part of Pelvic Floor Syndrome -- so
defecating is difficult, painful and exhausting too. So I have gotten
truly desperate and need to do something to make things a little easier.
