My psa test just came back at <0.01.

It's been 37 months since I started salvage radiation for a psa
recurrence 3 months after RP. It gives some hope for those going
through SRT.  Hoping for long term remittance. But the stats seem to go
against you with time for salvage treatment.

Never Quit, fight to the end

My story is similar to yours, Dave, and I apologize to those here who may
have read it before.

I'm almost five years now post-radiation.  My PSA started rising after
surgery and was treated with a couple of shots of Lupron.  Obviously, Lupron
wasn't a solution (and I wasn't told that it would be).  In purely layman's
terms my urologist-surgeon said it caused the cancer cells to "go dormant"
for a time, usually two to five years.  After the PSA started to rise again
radiation was recommended and that has proved successful (in keeping the PSA
numbers down -- there have been consequences, however).  On my most recent
test and review my urologist expressed satisfaction with the number and then
added that five to seven years after treatment were often "the killers."  I
chided this good man for his inappropriate choice of words, but I know him
well and we laughed over it.

Yes, indeed; Never Quit, fight to the end.

That's great, Dave.  You are one of the longest lasting SRTers here.  Three
years has to put you well under 50% chance of recurrence.  Congratulations.
