Well, if your PSA was .07 right after surgery, and now it is 0.152,
then it could be a lab error, or it could be that part of your prostate
is still there, or it could be that your cancer is still there.
Colophony, I understand that your doctor does not give you any
information. Because he doesn't, then it means that you will have to
find a way to get it. If you want to know what is going on. This
requires that you actively go get the information. You need a copy of
your surgical pathology report. This is the laboratory dissection and
examination report from the prostate that was removed. It will tell so
much about what you are dealing with. It might be helpful to have a
copy of the surgical operation report that your doctor wrote. You need
copies of all your laboratory reports before surgery too--your blood
tests and such. What is your PSA history over the years? Did you have
any other tests like bone scans or MRI? What were those results? You
need those reports.
We are as handicapped as you are by the lack of information. We cannot
help you assess your situation without more information.
Wherever you live, you can use your skills to get this information.
Ask the office people to give you a copy of your medical records. Be
sure it includes everything, all the test results. Not just the notes
the doctor made at your visits. If they are reluctant to do this, then
you need to keep working until you find out *how* to get this
information. When you get this information, then please post it on
this group. At that time you will get a lot of useful feedback.
I do have something to tell you, though. A rising PSA after RP
indicates that possibly the surgery was not 100% successful. But your
surgeon is just a surgeon. They tend to say the same thing after their
treatment is over. Either send you to a radiation oncologist or put
you on some sort of hormone thing. A urologist is probably not the
most educated on what to do next, although they will think they are.
So this would be a good time to find another doctor, perhaps an
oncologist. If you select another doctor now, you can find one who is
more open with information, which would be a big bonus. And since this
is a new phase of treatment (that phase was diagnosis and surgery),
there need not be any bad feelings with the doctor.
I would like to emphasize again that you have not provided enough
information to get the best input from us. Are you willing to get your
different reports and results and let us know what they say?
Best wishes and my highest regards,
laurel

My thoughts? That's not the direction you want your PSA to go. It is also
not the speed with which you want it to rise. However, you need to get a
third to be sure there is an issue.
