Hi Chuck-ee......(a repost here.....one of the ones that didn't get to
the group)
I have Zone Alarm Pro.....2.6 version, Advanced Spybot S & D, and just
re-added AdAware 6.0. I also have 'Hijack This' ready for use again in
case of a browser hijacker. Got one from a defunct genealogy website
and frankly didn't know what it was at first.....this was last May or
so.
How do you find Pest Patrol? Some have complained it is a bit
over-zealous. But, it is probably reacting to AdAware or Spybot, if you
can't remove those from its scanning.
AdAware is much better looking........Spybot is IMO a better program,
but using them both now due to the increase in spyware.
Have a look at our antivirus group website......it is quite
far-reaching, easy to understand and in 4 languages if needed. Clay
provided the space and several of the 'gurus' did the write-ups.

Hi Auntie Virus. Pest Patrol is slow. I don't know that it is
overzealous. SpySubtract from Intermute who also have AdSubtract si
pretty good, it is fast as is SpyBot. I run them all. I actually paid
for Pest Patrol some time ago when my 98 box was acting strange. Pest
Patrol cleaned up a bunch of stuff. Now the 98 box and my Alienware
XP are clean as a whistle. I have also tried a real ass-kicker called
TDS-5. It is expensive and is it ever complete and fast. I don't
know that it is necessary to have such complexity but it is as
complete a product as I have ever seen for trojans. It finds open
ports and tells you what particular trojans target those ports.
