Also great stuff for your diet in general... us Atkins users have been
using it for years.

I have been taking Omega 3 for a number of years. For a couple of
years I was taking ground flax seed mixed with orange juice. I've
been taking omega 3 to help with my clogged arteries.
I don't want to rain on your parade, but I was recently diagnosed with
prostate cancer that has spread to my bones.

Gotta ask: has flaxseed kept you on the toity doing paperwork for 10 minutes
at a time many times a day because it produces pretty much a continuous
gooey extrusion? (No WONDER so few hecklers bother this forum.) My TP
consumption increased at least 500% on even just a few grams of flaxseed.
OTOH, I also realized within the following year that I had become lactose
intolerant. I now wonder whether THAT explains the flaxseed problem.

That seems to be the experience of most people here. Regardless of how well
or poorly we've eaten in our lives, we all get Prostate Cancer.
Do have the numbers? PSA? Gleason? I assume the stage is T4.

It's clearly true that dietary prescriptions haven't
prevented people from getting cancer.
Still, I'm glad they're doing trials like this. It may be that
the treatment group has a small but statistically significant
improvement in getting cancer, in the delay until onset,
the delay until symptoms, or in the delay until death.
If any of those are true, it's something worth knowing about.
Most of the dietary studies done are "in vitro", i.e., in test tubes
and petri dishes. Without clinical trials like these we don't
know for sure whether the in vitro studies are giving us
useful information or not.
So I'm glad that David is participating in this trial.

David,
What is interesting is that flax seed (and soy) will definitely prevent
prostate cancer. However, if you already have prostate cancer cells,
then it will cause the cancer to undergo apoptosis at a lower rate,
resulting in an increased overall rate of prostate cancer growth.
Ordinarily, this increase is very minor, but for individuals taking 5AR2
inhibitors or individuals with AIPC lacking function iAR, then the
increase is significant.
