At 12 months post RP I finally hit upon the best incontinence pads,
Depends Guards. I think 95% of men must prefer them. They are wide and
big yet quite comfortable to wear, and you can't feel any wetness until
they are almost saturated.      Now that I have THAT problem fixed, and
just need something to alleviate the (quite) unusual bladder spasm
(which is able to force fluid beyond the 800 cuff) which particular pad
should I use?     I want something as wide as the Depends Guard, need
not be as long, is much thinner (don't need much protection) and is all
WHITE (not blue or pink, so people at the gym don't think I'm queer or
a fairy:-]).   [BTW, the AMS 800 is an awesome device, it works
perfectly, I can't feel it inside me, and doc says it should last for
my remaining 44 years on the planet (if I live to 100). It cost my
insurance company 14k.]   Nominations please?

Hi Tdub,

Am I understanding you correctly? You have an AMS-800 device that leaks
when you have a bladder spasm, and the Depends guards that you prefer
aren't sufficient protection.  Is that right?

The Acticuf disposable pouch may work for your situation.  You would
have to try it and see.  Its white, thin, and has a soft padded
enclosure that helps control urinary flow.  If you would like, I will
send you a sample pack.  Send me an e-mail (address on this post) or
call the office at 877-488-4379 and I will get a sample out to you.

These other guys in this user group probably have some innovative
solutions that might work for you as well.

No, Sam. Now your just selling, aren't you?

Tdub. That wasn't my intent.  I just wanted to give you an option to
TRY and tell you how to get.  That's it.  I am sorry.

While it's true Sam is selling, his offer of a sample is legitimate.  I
went to the web site, read the studies on the site, requested a sample,
and it's on its way.  The device is essentially a pouch with a springy
neck that applys some light pressure on the urethra
reducing/eliminating leakage for mildly incontinent men.  The purpose
of the pouch is to catch and absorb remaining drips, if any.  I'll give
it a try when it arrives and report.  A major concern for me is the
price which I believe is around $5/item, coming in a package of 10 for
$50 if I'm understanding correctly.  If they can be used only once and
tossed, it's too pricey for me.  Maybe they can be washed.  Anyway,
I'll give it a try and report.

The concept sounds good, but cost is an important factor. In my view
its amazing how inexpensive (and high tech) standard incontinence pads
are. But at this point I only need something for an accident, which I
don't expect to occur but rarely (thank you AMS 800!).
