Due to start on the above Phase I trial ( Trial A4021010) next
Tuesday.  Anyone else on this or had a go already?

"CP-751,871 is an antibody drug designed to target a protein
(insulin-dependant growth factor receptor - IGFR) that is present on
the surface of tumor cells.  By blocking the actions of this protein,
CP-751,871 may inhibit the survival of cancer cells"

Nothing ventured etc.

Hi, Carolyn.... It's been a long time.  Too long.  I had heard John wasn't
doing to well, but nothing from you, so I chalked it up to rumors.  Last I
heard, his PSA was stable about 30, but that was well over a year ago.

Hi Steve..... yes its been a long time, last time i posted John was
still on phase 1 clinical trial of Taxatere and an antibody 2C4 this
kept his cancer stable and he had a total of 14 cycles (3 weekly) this
is double what anyone else managed on the trial and the doctors and
drug company were so pleased with him that he was in the national
papers and also he spoke at a Conference in Paris.

John trial finished March 05 and he was started on Stilbestrol, he is
also still getting 4 weekly Zometer and Zolodex. John also takes
Gabapenton for bone/nerve pain.

Since then  March 05  PSA  59
                 May 05      PSA 42.8
                 June 05      PSA 41.3
                 Sep 05       PSA 47.2
Nov 05 stop stilbestrol
Bone scan shows slight progression of bone mets (multiple mets at dx)
                 Dec 2nd 05  PSA 105
                 Dec 28th 05  PSA 195
                 Jan 24th 06   PSA 212

John is currently in the Royal Marsden ready to start a new phase one
trial( an antibody)
John is starting to feel the effects of the tumour load, he looks
tired and his body aches and he has some restriction of movement in
shoulders. John has also got a lump come up on his jaw which is tender
and numbness of the chin area, the drs think this is extra activity as
his scan shows mets in that area.  John had a echocardiogram and bone
scan yesterday and he will have an MRI to look what is going on with
his jaw (with a view to have palliative radiotherapy on it)

We still have hope and live life to the max, although we cant deny
that things are progressing. Last year we took 4 holidays this year we
shall do the same, lifes about living not living to die.

Much love
carolyn

It's not 640, but 212 is just terrible news.  I cannot tell you how sorry I
feel for you.

You are quite a lady and John is damned lucky to have you.

This sounds like cutting edge science.

Thank you for entering a clinical trial.  Whether the therapy works
or not you will have contributed to greater scientific understanding
of the disease.

Best of luck with it.
