I join this group in Sept. using Google. Some time ago I found a link
that says "Find other messages by this author" under "show options".
When I did this I got messages by that person for all NGs not jus this
one. Personally, I don't want anyone from any other NG that I've posted
to reading posts here about my progress with erections etc. So I have
changed my nickname and email address. I have posted here as TW in the
past. The new address is valid, it's just not based on my real name and
I won't be using it anywhere but here.

Some people found out this a long time ago.
You can use fake name and fake e-mail address (like myself now) to
protect your privacy if you wish.

Any of us can read everything you've ever posted on the internet under your
usual name(s) with a few clicks. With a few more clicks, we could probably
find another name or two you've used and open up a whole 'NUTHER list of
internet posts. And that's just using Google Groups by seat of the pants; a
savvy 12-year-old could probably find and read every e-mail you've ever
sent.
Is it any wonder I call myself

You can run Tom, but you can't hide. A semi-competent 13 year old can
find out everything about you and your entire life with just a few clicks. I
chose to be out front, and have paid the price a few times, but I have a
very thick skin.... well most of the time anyway.

Tom, most ISPs today give subscribers half a dozen or so e-mail addresses,
so it's easy to cobble up a for-newsgroups-only address. Another option is
to use a free service like Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail. Either way you will have
a valid address (perhaps including something like _NO_SPAM_ in the address
to deter address harvesting robots) that shields your true identity and
primary e-mail address.

Thanks Alex and everyone else. I know that internet privacy is an
oxymoron but the google one click shows all option was more than I
could deal with. I work in a very public profession with more than it's
fair share of a.sholes. When I learned that posting on a professional
NG would allow access to my postings here I was very PO'd. I'm now feel
reasonably shielded. All you twelve year olds bring it on. ;-)

Sorry, but this thread ties your present nom de plume to your past one. You
are forever and irrevocably tied to all postings TW ever posted on USENET.
Gooood luck if anyone ever gives a hoot.
Sleep tight. ;-)
