I had a RP 3 weeks ago and the catheter removed 1 week ago.
Whilst catheterised my urine returned to a clear straw colour after day 3.
However, since the catheter was removed last week, my urine has
progressively become a milky straw colour.
Is this something that is likely to clear up or should I seek attention?
I get a slight burning sensation when I pee but the great news is I'm 100%
continent
Any comments appreciated
Mackem,
I had a similar experience. Catheter out at day 7, then urine got
cloudy and I frequently felt like there was sand in there when I would
pee. I told my doctor about it at about 1 month, and was SURE I had a
bladder infection. Urine spec to lab showed lots of white and red blood
cells, but there was no growth on culture. My doctor said he though it
was just part of the healing process, but was willing to start
antibiotics if I wanted. I opted to wait, and it went away about a week
later.

First, I would like to welcome you to the club, but currently I am too
jealous at your continence to do so....
If your urine had turned pink or red, I'd say it's normal. I'm not sure
about milky white. That would seem to me to mean excess white blood cells,
ergo infection. I'd call a doctor and see about antibiotics.

Many thanks to both Steves for your helpful comments.
I'll watch it for a week or two and see if it clears up.

Don't wait too long.
Any infection this close to your surgery isn't gonna help your recovery
or recovery prognosis. It may not hurt but it definitely won't help.
I was catheteriszed for longer than most - almost two weeks - waiting
for the red/pink to go out of the color and then access to my urologist
(a busy guy). When I awoke from surgery my urine was blood red - I'd
swear it was pure blood. I was on oxygen for a long time (1 day) and my
blood pressure was extemely low. Still went home on day three - red pee
and all - and I also had a "pineapple" that filled regularly several
times a day for nearly a week - and was then removed.
My Uro had informed me that there had been someminor problems during
surgery and I was in for almost 6 hours.
Doing fine now. Guess that Willie was the only one to suffer from my
misfortune - he remains comatose!

Thanks Pops
Does a urine infection have any other symptoms?
Apart from the cloudyness and a minor burning feeling when I pee, I'm not
feeling any other symtoms.
My FIL had a TURPS when he was 82 and he got a urine infection that caused
him to hallucinate. Once treated he was ok in 3 or 4 days.
Many thanks

Why do we not hesitate to pay $20,000 for a doc, and then not want to
bother him with a phone call? Milky urine is not good..... CALL NOW. The
last thing you want is an infection while you're healing inside. He'll want
a culture, and then you'll know immediately if you need meds.

I'd love to see his docs face when he explains how he waited a couple of
weeks and THAT's why he has to go back in and do some more cutting and
snipping.
