Did everyone catch the video?  It was pretty interesting and showed
an animation of the procedure.  I guess the hand drawn graphics are
easier to understand.

One thing though.

Toward the end of the "surgery", they show the removal of the
prostate and the reconnection of the urethra to the bladder.

Is THAT how they do it?  It looked like they took an inch and a
half out, maybe two inches????   I've heard there might be a
shortening of the penis in some cases, but a procedure like that
would leave me with, well, not very much.

I suppose those of you who were swingin' heavy or going by the name,
"Tripod" wouldn't be impaired.  Going from 7 inches to 5, that's not
too bad but when you start with 5, whoa!

I realize that we're supposed to focus on the emotional and romantic
aspect of relations, be thankful for living, enjoy oral techniques,
etc., maybe I'm just shallow, but I'd miss the deep penetration.

I gotta say, this is harder than I thought.

KH,
I asked my doc about this potential for shortening. He said he drops
the bladder down. He does not pull the penis up. I had RLRP almost two
years ago. I am the same size I have always been. Brings new meaning to
the old saw "Measure twice, cut once," doesn't it?

Yes.  I was surprised to see the video.  Pretty amazing.

Hi !
You don't specifically say if you've been diagnosed with PCa and trying to decide on
a treatment method, or whether you're just commenting on the RLRP techniques from the
daVince video... (but from your last line, I suspect the former).
I had daVinci done 12/27/05. Got my catheter out this morning. Hadn't thought about
the difference between dropping bladder down vs. shortening the penis up... Although
I can't say for sure yet, but as a previous 5-incher, it looks like I may have gotten
the latter... Oh well.
When in doubt, ask your surgeon for the details. I also suspect that due to
anatomical differences, surgeons may be limited on what and how they do something
based on each individual. (i.e.; if there's not enough 'slack' in both ureters, it
may not even be possible to lower the bladder).

You had 5 inches without an erection??

YIKES!
KenA - 06 Jan 2006 06:23 GMT
I and my wife wish... When I was *much* younger, I was about 6.5" erect. As I got
older, it mysteriously shrank to about 5". (Have never been able to figure this
out...) At 6'1", I'm at about 165 pounds, so I'm not overweight. Although Willie's
still sleeping, I can only assume I've lost another inch or so.... Only time will
tell.

I'm a rad-grad, IMRT and Paladium-103 class of 2004,  I read the
group to understand what lies ahead for me and generally keep up
with the technology.

As a fellow 5-incher, the idea of losing even an inch, not to
mention 2, is a sobering thought.   Not that there's anything wrong
with 4 or even 3 if, ah, used properly.

In fact, one of my pals, gasped and squealed "What ARE you
DOING!?!" when I balanced myself above her, took the semi-turgid tip
in my hand and slowly stroked her with it, kinda like one might
use their tongue.  This was decades ago in my younger, wilder
days but I offer it as an alternative to penetration.

Some women are self-admitted "size queens" but I believe that for
most, it's the caring and consideration that matters most.

Anyway, speaking of length, my tongue is just a hair over 2 inches,
plenty big enough.

I'm guessing that you might be able to get some length back,
with some stretching exercises, after healing of course.

Hi kh!
One of the many things I like about the relationship with my wife, is a mutual
willingness/interest in exploring different sexual 'activities'. At least for the
short term (pun intended), I suspect many of our 'optional' activities will become
more frequent replacements for standard intercourse. Without becoming too bawdy, I
think it'd be accurate to say that there are at least two other activities that she
prefers over intercourse. (Oh, and although gardening is quite high on her list, but
was not envisioned as one of the two other items.... vgb)
KenA
P.S. - I'll leave all the additional 'gardening' allusions to the reader... (;->
