I am Day 13 post RPP and since I had my cath out a week ago I noticed
my incision oozing....predominately clear (little yellow and pink
splash). Dr. put me on antibiotics (Keflex) and I am 5 days thru a 7
day Rx.

I have to change dressing at least 4x daily and have a little swelling
in groin area. In the evenings on occasion I've run a mild fever
<100.5,

Have any of you that have had traditional surgery had similiar
experiences? Maybe I have unrealistic expectations.

Thanks!

Some surgeries get infected. Sounds like your doc is on top of it. Just
don't fail to RUN to the ER or your doc if things get worse -- increased
pain, fever, discharge, radiating redness or spider-veined red marks, dong
falls off, sudden urge to play rugby, etc.

Thanks Ip. Patience is not one of my virtues.

RP on 5/1/02.  I had one area of my incision that didnt seem to
heal---frequent discharge.  A lady who used to post in this forum---Beth,
who is a veteranarian---put a name to it.  If I recall, it's a pocket that
sometimes forms after surgery.  The uro instructed my wife, who was a nurse,
to irrigate it with peroxide.  It eventually healed.  There was no infection
involved for me.

Did you have JP drains?

Had one which was removed two days after surgery as there was no more
drainage.

I think the incision may finally be closing as drainage subsiding.
Maybe another day taking it easy hanging out watching bowl games will
help.  Tomorrow is 3 weeks from surgery so maybe I'll get lucky.

Happy New Year to you.

I think you will be ok too.  This is a new experience to you as it was
for me three years ago.  Give it time.  Call your doc if you have any
concerns with the surgery.  I called about one problem I had and he put
me at ease, I gave it a couple more days and everything got better.  I
had the JP drains (two) out a week post OP, I think, (memory is fading),
the cath came out after about two weeks plus a couple days or
so.....Amazing how one forgets these things.  My surgeon removed both.
Anyway in short time you will have distant memory of these events and I
have no scar to show for it, LOL.

Wish you a healthy new year and many many more to come.
