Male Sling -- 6 weeks status report

Like the subject indicates, it's been 6 weeks since I had a sling installed
with a goal of reaching an acceptable level of continence. AT 18 months
after RRP, I was going through 1 to 3 man pads per normal day and more if  I
played golf or participated in strenuous activity. My chart showed that I
had reached this level at about 6 months and no subsequent improvement was
being made.

The surgery was outpatient and took about an hour; 6 hours if you include
pre and post op.  I was dry immediately after removing the catheter the next
day.  It took about two weeks for the incisions to heal and during this time
sitting was extremely difficult as the sling is installed right where you
sit.

At six weeks I'm still dry although I've squirted a few drops or teaspoons a
couple of times when doing strenuous activity without voiding.  So I'd say
I'm 97%+ dry with NO pads.  With a foot of snow on the ground, I can't say
how dry I'll be playing golf.  I'll know better in mid January when we reach
Arizona for our Wintering over.

At six weeks I can still fell the effects of the sling. My crotch is usually
pained by the end of the day and I'm still a little numb in the area. But it
improves a bit each day. Hopefully by 8 weeks, I'll be back to normal but
DRY! The nice thing about the sling is that it's a passive device; no
switches or devices to fail.

The cost was about $8000; all covered by insurance.

Oh, maybe coincidently, but Willy is finally shown signs of getting some
backbone : )

Cheers

Wonderful Don.

Things sound promising.

Good report and I think that the soreness where the screws went will get
better and better.

Great dryness...and best of all...seeing some life in willy...SUPER!

Thanks and be well,

Ron B.

Don,
Great news about your progress against the "gruesome twosome."

Can't believe I forgot the most important item:  PSA = 0.03.   It's been
ranging between 0.01 and 0.04 for the 19 months since RRP.

Go Willie, GO!

Thanks
