I read everything here but don't post much anymore except the shopping list
for prostatectomy patients.

Diagnosed at 50 yrs old.  PSA at diagnosis 9.1
LRP in October 2001, 1 nerve spared.
Lousy pathology (+ SV's, large cancer volume)
Post Op PSA readings:
Feb 02 = 0.06
July 02 = 0.09
Sept 02 = 0.09
Dec 02 = 0.11
May 03 = 0.18
Nov 03 = 0.20
Apr 04 = 0.24
Sept 04 = 0.19

Then in May of this year it jumped to 0.35 and a couple of weeks later
(June) a repeat came in at 0.34

At this stage we decided to do EBRT.  37 sessions.

PSA now (~3 months after radiation) = 0.59.  I guess there is a slim
possibility of a bounce but not very likely with no prostate!

I have no symptoms at all and am otherwise fine.  I am now 55.  As long as I
have good quality of life we will hold off hormone treatment and monitor
PSA's on a 4 month basis but if things do start to deteriorate, that is the
route I will go next.

I've indicated a willingness to consider clinical trials but there isn't
anything right now that fits my case.

I'm fine.  Just filling you in.

Damn, Joe!

I guess there is a bounce possibility, but I would think it would be based
on radiation aggitation of the cancer.  If so, it is very likely your next
PSA will be much less.  We all know that radiation's effectiveness is best
measured months later.  We would like to see something like a 0.59, 0.29,
0.15, 0.07, 0.03, 0.03, 0.03...

Joe,
I'm sorry for the anxiety your numbers might be causing. I hope you
have many happy, sumptom free years ahead.

Just read this and am very sorry to see those numbers.  I wish you well
