First off, thank you for all your comments and prayers. I've come to believe
that we can't ever get enough prayers said for us. The cancer is in the
brain as I have suspected for months. they are going to
treat it with radiation to his whole brain. something about the dura being
thickened throughout and a walnut sized tumor in the right brain (not sure
exactly where) . MRI showed mets to spinal fluid, They did a lumbar
puncture yesterday and are doing diagnostic tests to confirm. they say the
radiation should help with the double vision and
he also has paralysis of his left face. He has 8 sessions of radiation left
and then if cells are present in the CSF they will do intrathecal chemo to
his spinal column if he opts for it. there are giving him 3-6 months left to
live.
on a better note, He has transitioned to methadone 10 mg q6, decadron 6mg q8
prilosec qd. actiq prn. his pain is a 1-2. mind is clear!! he is down from
18 suckers per day to 6 or so.
it's like having my husband back!!! I am very grateful for that.

Hi Lori.....I am glad to hear that his pain is much more controlled. I wish
it was a better outcome, but you and Curt are in my thoughts and prayers.
Make the most of your time that is left....as in *make some memories*. They
don't have to be big things, but just enjoy each other's company while you
can. I can't even imagine the pain the poor soul must have been in up till
now.....but it sounds like it will be better for both of you for a time.
Best.....Heather

I am a so far survivor of PC.With some experience in cancer, please take
my remarks with as much tolerance as you can.I fear that Curt will
become very belligerent and nasty toward you. Please try to understand
that as he leaves you he wants you to not miss him, thus he in his own
way is trying to help you.I have seen this in my brother and in my
son-in-law,both of whom had terminal cancer.Be loving. Our prayers are
with you both. A lurker who has learned much from this site,a quite a
lot of which has come from Curt.

better news here. Your prayers must have helped!
Now that Curt is on Methadone for pain instead of self-dosing on
Fentanyl. what a change!! he is like himself again.it is very nice.
it's amazing what a little death scare can do for clarity. He is back
home and it is going very well here. he has had 6 radiations to his
brain, 5 to his pelvis and spine. his paralysis and double vision is
improving by his report. CSF is negative for cancer cells!!!! we had
been told that he had cancer there too so it is great that that is one
less worry. he is also making great headway on the basement so I might
be taking bubble baths by Christmas!
Sam is home from Treatment and they are getting on quite well. Sam is
settling into his new school. he will be in the alternative school for
the rest of the year but Gramma works there so she will watch out for
him. he can still play traveling basketball because they will let him
into the school after-hours for that.
so things are getting way better around here and I am optimistic for
the new year.\
thanks for all the support

You're letting him swing a hammer toward his thumb with double vision?
Ouch!

as if I could stop him or make him do anything. Curt is his own man. and he
has nearly every power tool known to man. He has his own flooring
installation business. We have thousands of dollars worth of tools for
installing Carpet, laminate, ceramic, vinyl, and vct tile. He mostly just
seams and supervises his apprentice and the padding/laborer guy. he is
always booked when other installers can't get jobs, he does.
