Do you remember what was the right thing?
Some recent publications suggest ECGC is the active cancer
fighting ingredient. It's present in all teas, more present in
green tea, and more present still in "Sencha" green tea - the
Japanese green tea variety that is also grown in China and
elsewhere.
However, some research indicates that even the Sencha tea
doesn't have enough EGCG in a couple of cups a day to make
much of a difference.
In any case - all of this is still preliminary, based on test tube
and mouse studies.
I drank tea for 10 year for its health benefits. I still drink it, but
I've also gone back to coffee, my preferred drink, since tea didn't
keep me from getting PCa.

In the book he just relates the story about getting green tea in bulk,
drinking a hell of a lot of it only to find out later that what he had was
not the right variety of green tea. He never said what was the "right" kind
of green tea for this purpose. Of course, this book is at least ten years
old, so what we read today can be very different. And, as you say Alan,
this is all preliminary research anyway.
