Hello,
I have a prescription for Viagra......
It is 100 mgs.....Today it cost me 119.00 for that amount.
That is 10 pills......
What is wrong. Why should 10 pills cost 119.00
anyway so what........
Just venting......

John,
I am amazed at the cost of these medicines that allow help in acquiring
erections. My understanding is that Viagra was originally meant to be
a blood pressure medicne prior to its being found to help ED. If it
was sold as such it wouldn't cost nearly as much. It is marketing.
There's too much volume sales to say it for reimbursing the R&D. Just
my opinion.

I got a prescription a couple weeks ago for Levitra. That is the one that I
had not tried yet. Seven tables cost me $77.00! Ripoff. But then again,
someone has to pay for all those drug ads we see on tv every minute of every
day on every channel.

No question that it's high...but the way I look at it...
As with high gas prices, they've shown that a lot of folks spend $10 a
day on Starbucks, a muffin, bottled water, etc.
The Starbucks coffee, not to mention the bottled water costs MORE than
gas.
So for guys (not just prostate patients) who have lost their erections
due to age etc...these so called miracle ED drugs are certainly worth
$12 bucks a piece (uh...so to speak. :-)
I'm sure that the prices are higher than they should be but even
still...there's gonna be a market for something like this.
Who thought when we were kids that bottled water would be the norm?
Ya can't walk 10 feet without sipping on water?
Your briefcase needs a 'slot' to carry the bottle?
:-)
(The above observations are true but paraphrased from various comedic
routines)
John, maybe you'll feel better when you know that the young guys envy
the bottle of "Blue Steel" (as Viagra is known on the street) you have
in your pocket.

John ...
Let's look at the high cost of Viagra this way:
It's the screwing you took for the screwing you're gonna get. :)

No, no, that's the definition of Divorce. The screwing you get for the
screwing you got<g>
Back on topic: It never ceases to amaze me that with Viagra, the cost
per tablet is the same regardless of whether or not it's a 25mg, 50mg or
100mg dosage. Check out your other drugs and see how weird that is.
If you need 25mg, have the doc write the scrip for 100mg and split them
up or cut them with a pill cutter (as I KNOW has been frequently
mentioned on this very group)<g>
We now return you to our regular programming!

That 'little', if any, cost differential applies to a lotta meds.
I've found that double or quadruple the strength is _usually_ only a bit
more than the lower dosages.
A little story:
On a Monday a guy goes into the drugstore he'd purchased Viagra at on
Friday.
He was bitchin' at the druggest cuz he said he'd only gotten 19, as
opposed to the 20 Viagra pills listed on the script.
The druggest looked at the bottle, then looked at him, and says:
"Well, I'll be damned.
I hope it didn't mess your weekend up."

Some of you guys might save a lot of money by trying injections. After
insurance, they cost me about $0.25 each. The return on investment is
better than on anything else. The insurers put a lot of limitations on
the pills becausethey are worried about abuse. Apparently, if you are
willing to inject, you are less suspect.

So far, with a doctor's letter, my insurance will cover it. However, our
plan has changed, so the new one may not. However, I get the 100mg pills
and cut them into 4 pieces each, and for me the quarter works just as well.
So, even if I have to pay the full amount, it boils down to about $2.50 a
dose (so to speak).

John, you are the guy that taught me to split those 100 mg pills! Your
advice has saved me hundreds of dollars. A few crumbs is all it takes. 10
pills = about 50 "applications". Lots of pretty cheap dates if you look at
it that way.
Take care,
JP
