I have been lurking here since early August when I was diagnosed. Despite
learning about the large number of men that have gone through this, I
initially still felt alone. It wasn't until I spoke with others and read
the stories in this group that I really felt like I was truly in good,
albeit reluctant, company. The plain numbers turned into human stories
with real people. I would feel remiss if I didn't express my gratitude to
those of you that beared your soul and your stories, that provided great
information, and that added a little humor to my day. Thank you very
much. Your time and efforts are helping.

In that vein, I will add my vitals to the pile. My numbers: PSA: 6,
Gleason 3+3=6, Age 41. Like most of you, I have spent quite a bit of time
educating myself and researching my options. Tomorrow I will be going in
for my Robotic Lap with Dr. Mark Kawachi at the City of Hope in Duarte
(L.A. area). Next week I'm sure I'll be going back over those "catheter
care" posts. Thanks again everyone.

Steve,

A potentially dangerous disease, caught early.  You have made an
informed decision.  Now never look back.

Your surgeon specifically said he will do a "nerve-sparing" procedure,
right?

Here's wishing you the same excellent results I got.

You are a rarity, Steve.  I'm sure you know that 41 is awful young for this
disease.

The good news is that it is also indicative of a fast diagnosis.  With your
study, you also know that your numbers are very low by comparison to most
persons upon diagnosis.  You have a reasonable chance at a cure.

I'll think of you in my prayers today.

Sorry to hear that you are having to face this at such a young age, Steve.
But you stand a better chance of getting your erections back because of that
youth!  Good luck with the surgery.  I hope you will post back to let us
know how it goes!

Take care!

Just got back from the hospital. The Doctor said everything went
textbook. Outlook is good. I'll find out next week what the pathology
report says.

As far as how I feel, I feel like I just went 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali
and he threw nothing but body blows.  The first day post op (yesterday)
was a little rough. Today is much better. Having a catheter sucks. I
don't know that I will ever "get used to it" but it is getting less
cumbersome every day. Thanks again to everyone for their help.

Welcome home Steve.

You'll be feeling better every day.

Keep up the lube where the cath enters you.

Don't wan't too much rubbing.

:-)

Best Wishes,

Ron B.

Hi Steve

Welcome home. Glad everything looks positive. I had my RRP last Sept.
Thanks to this group I wasn't surprised at how the recovery went. It
was pretty much as was predicted.  You'll get used to the catheter
pretty soon. It was not such a big deal. Somebody in this group ( and I
have to apologize that I can't remember who it was) periodically post a
check list of very helpful hints of ways to get through the post-op
period. If you haven't seen it maybe someone can re-post it. Keep your
chin up and don't get discouraged. It will take time but you will see
steady improvement to your quality of life..

Good Luck

Frank

Steve(egnarts7),
You are probably through the worst part already. Enjoy your "vacation."
