That really struck a nerve! We have nothing to be embarassed about.
David, I'm very sympathetic. I go to a gym every day, and returned to
it about 3 weeks post op. I was still wearing Guards. The changing area
is fairly public. At first it was difficult, and I would head for a
stall to change pads or get rid of them. After a while, the people I
whose opinions I care about knew I had cancer surgery. I bet with a
little practice you will be able to be very discrete. After all you
have been through, why torment yourself about what some stranger
thinks?

There's a very simple solution to the gym workout with pad routine -
work out with undies/pad you wore to the gym. After workout go to a
stall and take out the pad. Throw it away (just roll it up and carry it
out to a trash can - noone will notice if you don't know the people in
the gym and people don't stop to talk to you). Shower. Dress and put on
fresh undie you brought with new pad inside.

I've been on the catheter for almost two months.  At first I was embarrassed
to walk into the men's room with a fanny pack over my shoulder.  When I
have to go so bad I almost scream I don't care what they think.
Saw the ero today.   He said my bladder condition was not caused by the
seeds.  It is a timing coincident.  Wants me to have interstim therapy.
Imagine pushing a button to pee!!   And I was an electrician!

Great attitude Jimmie.

Just do what ya gotta do.

Take care of yourself.

No reason to be embarrassed.

All the best,

Ron B.

I thought guys weren't supposed to "look" when using public bathrooms!
