Hello to all,
I recently had my prostate shaved because it was restricting flow through
the uretha. Even after surgery, I am suffering with intense bladder pain.
You get an urge to pee. I get a spasm of pain from bladder to tip of penis.
It almost doubles me over. None of the doctors I've seen seem to know why.
I have had a castcan, an ultra-sound, an IVP, blood tests, urine tests, and
a biopsy with no cancer present. They find nothing amiss. I scream bloody
murder from the pain before the urination begins, and even during the
process, it's still very painful. I dread going to the bathroom.
Has someone else had this experience? If you have, please let me know about
it. I don't know what else to do.
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Sounds horrible Michael.
I haven't had them since right after surgery, (RRP in my case) but
sometimes they use drugs like Ditropan for bladder spasms...
Did any of the docs talk about anti-spasmodics?
I hope you feel better.

Michael,
I have not experienced anything like what you describe, so this is just
conjecture. You could ask your doctor for a trial on pyridium. It is a
drug used for pain related to bladder infections. Maybe it will give
you done relief.

I had a lot of pain post-Foley removal (3 weeks post-RRP) when I tried
to urinate. Mine was from the urethra/bladder reconnection healing
shut. When I tried to urinate and couldn't (or even could a little)
there as a lot of pain. Pyridium didn't help - the Foley is back in
for a week now and I think it'll do the trick.

My husband had terrible spasms like yours after his TURP. They
gradually improved after the catheter was removed and finally
disappeared in about a week. The nurses attending him said this was not
unusual after this procedure.
.
Two years later he had an RRP and was very worried he would have the
spasms again. Luckily that didn't happen.
