Friends,
Steve Jordan sent me an e-mail informing me that he received a message
from me via HealthNewsGroups. They ask for personal info to get at the
message. I'm unaware of HealthNewsGroups except when I get messages
from them claiming that someone has sent me a message that must be
retrieved through them. It is always a copy of something I have already
read on this news group. I never intentionally go through any
intermediary scamists. Any body know what is going on?
I would never intentionally get involved with something like this. If
they send you something in my name, please delete unopened, or be as
nasty as you like with them. Thanks.

I have been sent a few messages under folks's names from there.
I believe most of us are familiar enough with spam to know you had no
knowledgeable input into whose name it came in.

Hi all.
I don't know enough about computers (see webtv addy :-)
but I've learned that some folks need a newsreader to access newsgroups
like this.
I've received messages that were responses to my posts through the
"HealthNewsgroups" deal from regular members of the group.
I don't think it's a scam per se...just some way to access the group.
Like I said...I don't know enough to be sure but since I've received
them before, I didn't want new folks to be overly alarmed if they should
get one.

There are a number of web services that copy newsgroups and offer
access via a web server - typically paid for by ads. The biggest of
these, of course, is Google. I think HealthNewsGroups is just another
of the web based newsgroup carriers with a bit more aggressive policy
of intruding themselves - but not really harmful.
