Curt is on his way home. the first 5 days were great and then Steve, who had
been up for 3 days straight and drank a 12 pack of beer. got really freaky
during this 12 hr one-on-one session. and Curt said the first 4-5 hours were
good but then it got weird.sexual stuff.  from what he described to me, it
sounded like how you would brainwash someone. He was telling him that no one
loved him but steve. that I didn't love him, that I was just waiting for the
insurance money. that his friends who raised the money for him to go don't
like him or love him they just pity him because he has cancer. that i was an
unfaithful wife. stuff like that. so the only one he would trust would be
steve. so curt left and then got kicked out?? while he was leaving.

good news- he learned a lot about himself and what he wants for the rest of
the time he has left. He learned how to eat right and did quit smoking. he
has some books he is bringing home with him that are more explanatory than
the great shaman could explain it after a 12vie of beer. Curt said he drank
a 12 pack per night and ate hamburgers and tacos and all the while was
telling Curt how alcohol is evil and red meat is bad. even offered Curt a
Schwan's pizza for dinner. way too weird. he must be on some pretty heavy
drugs to stay up for 3 days straight.
Curt was a dang emotional cripple this morning when he called me. I've
talked to him so many times today -in between Kindergarten countdown and
other stuff I've been doing today- I have to get him at the airport at
1130pm he's been at the airport in Palm Springs since 7am our time.

we still have 4 gallons of medicine here at home too so Curt plans on using
that, eating right, getting scans done so we can see what we are up against
(it's been almost a year since tests were done) maybe get some radiation,
and go on from there.

thanks for listening

Oh My God!

I am really not happy to hear what you and Curt have been dealing with.
Bring the man home, and give him your best.
I am sorry things turned out that way.
Can you call Stanford Medical University Hospital?
They have differing alternatives to cancer that is confined, and spread.
I know you and Curt have done the gamut....
Just wondering.

Sounds like you are close to homeostasis.  I'm happy for you.  The first
good news in a long time.

According to my online dictionary, "Homeostasis - noun:  metabolic
equilibrium actively maintained by several complex biological mechanisms
that operate via the autonomic nervous system to offset disrupting changes."

I meant it as an external analogy between Curt, Lori, and loved ones; not a
description of his cancer status.

I know Steve.  The word just stumped me and I figured it might others.

Not really sure what to say Lori, except stay strong and I wish you the
best.

The story of Curt and Lorelei is moving.

It is also a cautionary tale about the soulless, heartless parasites that
prey upon the desperate.

What was happening, I think, was the initial move toward taking as much
money as possible from Curt and Lori. I'm glad that Curt saw through it
even in his distress, and got out from under.

I think it is more about mind control and brainwashing. being the Man In
Control. Our radio host friend called me last eve and I told him what had
gone on. he was so surprised and sorry. he says he believes in the medicine
but not the man and I would say that that is where we are at.

BUT

getting treated that way might have been good for Curtis. I believe that he
experienced an exaggerated (very) version of himself at his most assholio.

he says it might be the most significant experience he every had. he had
never been emotionally abused before tho he had perpetrated that on me and
my son. he admits that he doesn't know how to be a good father or husband
and wants to learn how. He plans on apologizing to Sam and telling him that
it was HIM not Sam.

This family used to have dinner at the dinner table no tv, light background
music. that went out the window with the cancer diagnosis. we are
refamilying up you might say.

I've never seen him be so sincere and heartfelt. s

the biggest problem he is having is that he SAT THERE AND TOOK IT FOR 6
HOURS!! and he can't understand why. I told him the answer is simple. HE
wants to live so badly. He said that Steve kept telling him to Come CLean
and he'd treat him for free otherwise to leave.

He looks great he is back into a size 34 waist!! he was up to a 38 and was
gray again. he like himself except he has about 1/3 of the hair he started
with (still more than his brother lol and mine) He's not smoking. drinking
or eating processed foods.

I believe this will buy him some time. He needs time now to do some making
up to some people. his girls, Sam, me and some other family members. He says
he isn't going to say sorry, he is going to ask for forgiveness and show us
how sorry he is.

as far as money. I reversed payment on the $1500 check we sent him. I called
it "for therapy that was paid for but not delivered as described".   He will
have gotten $600 out of us. He said the 1500 didn't even cover the costs of
medicine. so I guess we got a great deal : )  and Curt absorbed a lot in the
first 5 days. so it was worth it.

Both of you would have always wondered if he hadn't tried it. Maybe he did
learn a few things out there that will help him. Good luck to both of you
and hopefully Curt is already home.
