Do any of you experience a sudden urgent need to urinate?  I do not mean
that you just pee a large quantity, but rather that you get an urgent need
to go.  When I get up at night I dump 500 ml or more, but there is no
"urgent" sense to go.

This happens to me on occasion but not very often.  When it did happen
yesterday I observed that I had no trouble holding my water until I got to
the bathroom.  As I was relieving myself I began to wonder about how is it
that I can hold back the tide but leak all day when there is no sense of
urgency?  It seems to be contradictory to me.  I am using 1-3 pads per day.
Sometimes one.  Sometimes more for no apparent reason.  I am two years post
RRP.

   Thoughts?

Yep, same here.  In fact I rarely "have to go" as I did in the old
days.  Occasionally I'll know I have a full bladder (as when I get up
in the morning) but the sensation is different than it used to be.  I
also sometimes get this same sensation when the bladder is only half
full or less.  Usually, however, I get no sensation at all, full or
empty and I have to remind myself to go to the bathroom regularly
otherwise I will just leak it all into the pad.  Maybe that's why I
still wear a pad.  If I went to the can every two hours I probably
would be able to get by all day with only a few drips in my pants and
no pad.

Holding steady by the way at one pad per day, maybe a bit less.  I
think I see some little improvement even at two years.  Still hopeful.

Same with me. I'm convinced it is caused by damaged nerves resutling in
less auto control of the sphincter. The sphincter just releases when it
wants, in an irratic fashion. Before my bladder neck resection
procedure a month ago I was amazed at how little, if at all, I could
feel myself urinating (I had to look down to see there was a stream or
no). After the procedure it seems I have more nerves around the bladder
neck, etc. sensing urine/flow, but it remains to be seen if this will
improve continence. As expected, with the opening up of the bladder
neck I have some increase in incontinence, but I still have pain in the
urethra+perineum area. Perhaps when that settles down good things may
happen, or I will get an AMS 800.
