3 Months After

Hi Gang,

Had my three month post-surgery (robotic) PSA.  Came back 0.0 (not sure
about the sensitivity of the lab equipment they use there, but the lowest
reading they record).  Get my PSA every three months and see the surgeon in
a year.

Got samples of Cialis and Levitra.  My family doc had also given me some
Viagra samples.  I've tried them out and will probably get a prescription
for the Cialis.  Seems to work for me as well as the Levitra and lasts
longer.  More bang for the buck (poor figure of speech).

In the sexual department I find that my orgasms are actually somewhat
stronger than before, but also a little quicker coming (no pun intended).
My doc shook his head when I told him that and said that I was the second
guy of the day to say that and it's just not supposed to be that way.  But,
that's my story and I'm sticking to it!  So I am not premature ejaculation
quick now (and not that there's anything to ejaculate).  But, I was always a
little slow in reaching orgasm and now that can happen a little quicker for
me.  What once took maybe 20 minutes now can take 10 (depending on her mood
:-).  The female half of my love-life awaits more firmness.  We both can see
and feel more firmness each week - almost each time we have sex it is
noticeable.  But, not quite up to penetration yet.  Still, she thinks this
is a better deal for her for oral sex (which pleases me to no end... well, I
guess it does please me to an end....).  Anyway, I am smaller and less bulky
in the penis department right now and so oral sex is what I might call the
no calorie version - less filling style.  Hey, a big advantage is that I am
no longer responsible for the "wet spot."

I continue to be continent and stopped pads when the catheter came out on
day 9.  Drip a little now and then when I am tired and have had too much
wine and yawn.  That sequence of events puts me at risk every time.

I'm 53, presurgery Gleason 3+3 and postsurgery 4+3.  Fully encapsulated.
Presurgery PSA around 20 and now 0.0

Life is good!

OCL, did you get any leakage during sexual arousal at first? From your
mention of oral sex, I am guessing you don't leak when aroused these
days...

I have also noticed a very slight wine+yawn risk the past few days. But
I am only 5 weeks out from the op, so I hope this will go away with
time.

Peter: The first time I felt an orgasm coming (I love the English language
with all its ambiguities!) in an oral situation I was thinking to myself,
"Careful now!  Don't be squirting urine or this is going to be the last time
this ever happens!"  Well, it didn't happen - not that I had any control
over it.  But, I was careful to be sure to empty my bladder as much as
possible before then and I continue to be aware of that need.

Yah, the wine+yawn equation doesn't always equal drips now.

I had one heck of an ache in my abdomen a few days ago when I went kayaking
for the first time post-surgery.  I am sure it was just the repetitive
motion of using the paddle.  It's gone now.

Hi OCL.

Really nice news.

Your situation brings up a common issue...the use of Viagra or Cialis
and erections after surgery..

I'm almost 5 months out of Open RP and take Cialis also.

Orgasms but no erections.

I guess it's not unusal (cue Tom Jones  :-) to NOT have erections so
soon afer the surgery as many guys take a year, or more.

I think 3 months is really good...isn't it?

I know that lap. surgeries usually recover faster but this seems
especially quick.

Is this true guys?

Thanks for the info.

I too noticed that I orgasm much quicker than previous.  I figure handling
the nerve bundles somehow rewired me.  Not a bad thing - just very different
from before surgery.

Glad to hear your recovery is progressing.

05OCL,
I started using the shots to have sex at day 13 post op. I highly
recommend them. The sex is wonderful. I think they helped me get my
erection back. Orgasm lasts about 3x longer now than pre-op and is very
intense. Pills didn't work well enough for penetration until 5.5
months. I leaked like crazy at first during sex. Dry at about 3 months.
My PCa stuff is:
age 50 PSA 4.5
Bx showed High Grade PIN
5 months later PSA 5.6
repeat Bx 1/12 cores <1mm gleason 3+3=6 stage T1c
RLRP 2-11-04 at age 50
