Dr Brooks just called me with my pathology results. In his words
"perfect, A+". T2cN0Mx Gleason 3+3=6, with negative margins all round,
clean lymph nodes and seminal vesicles. The Mx is purely because we
have no way to know about metastatic disease until we at least see some
high sensitivity PSA results (but recall I had a clean bone scan, for
what that is worth).
Needless to say I am *extremely* happy. :-)
Hey ho, next stop PSA in 3 months' time.

Excellent!
Just for insurance, it would be a good idea to have the specimens sent to a
specialist lab for a second look. The labs are known to uros, but for
some reason they don't mention them. A list can be found on the website
of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute at:
http://prostate-cancer.org/index.html
I understand that insurance will cover the cost.

My surgery and pathology were done at Stanford. It's on that list.

Great report!
You probably are already aware of this, but sometimes people get
confused about the fact that the clinical stage might be T1c, but the
pathological stage after surgery is T2X where X is a, b, or c. So it
seems that the stage went up after surgery. T1c before surgery means
the doctor felt nothing on DRE. But after surgery, except in the
unlikely event no cancer was found at all, the pathologist is definitely
going to find something, so it can't be lower than T2. It is classified
as a, b,c or c, depending on the classification scheme and whether
cancer was found in one lobe or both lobes. T2c means cancer was found
in both lobes, but that is quite common and doens't mean anything.
If you look at the Sloan Kettering nomogram program at their web site,
in a case like yours, the probability of no recurrence after 7 years is
in the high 90's.

Peter, great news! One of the reasons I picked surgery as treatment was
I wanted to know as much as possible about the cancer, an to get it out
of me. I had the same path report. Your story reminds me of how happy I
was to get it.
