this confirms that the chemo was not working for curt. his last psa came
back 157. up 12 in one month.and he had had chemo on schedule before that
test.
it will be interesting to see what it is next month after missing a round of
chemo.
take care all

it will make more than a 12 point jump - unfortunately, but it is not
linear in rise time.

the chemo was just slowing it down.

all the best,

~ curtis

I guess the next one will tell the tale of the tape.  I gotta feeling the
next few months are going to be very difficult on you Lori.  My prayers are
going out for you.  Looks like I'm going to have another talk with St.
Peregrine.

thanks. it couldn't be much more so. Curt's pain was so bad this am that he
was crying and had to take meds and stay resting until they kicked in. I
asked him if he wan't to do chemo to stop the pain and he said no. still not
as bad as that for 10 days.

last night he lamented how unfair it is that he is sick. and this business
could be so successfull. IOW he is starting to mourn the future. probably
evidence of another step in the grieving process. I've been there forever.

just kind of ranting.

Not a rant, Lori.  Post your every experience if it helps.  Believe it or
not, it helps us as well to know what to expect.

thanks Steve,
we tried something a little different last night. we put on another fentanyl
patch and will remove the first one tonight. and he took a dose of pain meds
right before bed and we was pretty good this am. kind of spry and a bit
randy.
his only pain meds are
advil
vicodin
fentanyl suckers now using patch

he jokes that if it was me I'd be hooked up to a pain pump 12 hours per day.
and I would have to agree. I don't believe in unnecessary suffering but
maybe it's the MAN in him, but he's still Superman. he made it through boot
camp, jump school, the paratroopers, Grenada, Honduras, his first marriage
<g>.
I am still pushing for the pain consult at the cancer clinic.
thanks again

Lori,
How are the kids handling all of this?  I know the little one is still
probably too young to completely understand but the oldest one has to be
feeling the strain of Curt's illness and your anguish.

I've been trying to get Sam into a child Psychiatrist.  Appt is July 26, I
made that over 2 months ago!
I busted him with cigarettes and pot less than 1 hr before we were to leave
for Basketball camp. I had a hinky feeling about him and asked him to empty
his pockets and it took a bit but he threw the stuff down on the grass (more
drama for the neighbors) that would have been great for his future to get
caught at St John's University with that!! needless to say, he is grounded
to the family for the rest of the summer and many more changes in store.
including new friends (he had done the classic change of friends thing with
the skateboarding over basebalk this year) I took him to his doc and we had
an hour of his time!!! he put sam on 20 mg Prozac per day. get that
evaluation on the 26th and see him no later than a month from yesterday.
Curt is on an upswing again and Sam is working with him every day this week.
making good money and not being bored cause he is working too hard.

I've brought them lunch 3 times this week.

Sam goes to California to stay with his Grandparents (his deceased father's
parents) for his usual month in the summer. they know what's going on so
they have orders to watch him closer than previous years. he confessed that
he drank a wine cooler last summer while in the care of his 19 yr old cousin
and her friends.

thanks for asking. I'll keep you posted.
Lori
