DF, and some others, told me that the missing file, psystray.pfd was a
Bellsouth program. I tried reinstalling the software that they sent to me
on cd but that did not work. However, when I first got the dial up I
remember that they walked me through getting connected and setting up via
the net. That icon, and software behind it, was separate from what came on
the cd. Anyway, the problem has to do with trying to remove that first set
of programs.
So, I call Bellsouth technical assistance. The young lady on the other
side of the line spoke fine English but her accent was thick and I had
trouble understanding her (deja vu). Also, she was scripted and followed
her script very precisely. We went through the dance three times before
what she told me I had reported as the problem was in fact what I had said.
Whew. The outcome? It is an operating system problem (meaning not ours)
and I should reinstall the operating system. Remember the "it is a hardware
problem" when you call the software man, and visa versa when you call the
hardware guy/gal?
Go to the Microsoft web site, look up Windows XP Professional, and no
hits at all on psystray.pyd.
So, how do I reinstall the operating system (or don't do that)?
Color me frustrated - again.
Thank you.

The thought just struck me, although I guess this is obvious, does anyone
else out there have Bellsouth dial up? Can you do a search for psystray.pyd
and see if that file is on your computer. If so, can you just copy it and
send it to me in an email? My yahoo email, which I foolishly used here for
awhile and now am inundated with spam, is flyloveflying then 'at' yahoo dot
com.
Thank you.
