The pump doesn't depend on the erectile nerves. It creates a partial
vacuum, and that draws the blood into the penis. A tension ring at the
base keeps it there. The most common reason men have trouble with a
pump is not maintaining the vacuum. You need to use the lubricant and
if necessary shave some public hair. I used a pump for something like
18 months and it worked reasonably well.
> Is'nt there a DANGER also ?
There can be if you keep pumping after you have produced a reasonable
erection. But generally speaking it is one of the safest methods
available. Once you get the knack, you can produce a pretty impressive
erection, and after a long time without one, it helps your ego to do
so. But you should try to avoid that. Remember, all you need is an
erections sufficient for penetration.

You can also produce an erection with injections. Again it take some
experimentation and at first there may be some discomfort afterwards,
but many men find that way entirely satisfactory. If worse comes to
worst, there are implants, which again seem quite satisfactory to men
that have them.

Howie,
Have you tried injections? For me, injection = erection perfection. If
you use small needles, they can be close to painless. I have used them
over 200 times. Like most things, it gets much easier with practice.

Thanks Steve..Dr also said needles..BUT my problem is..what do I do with
it after it's hard ? Wife shut down a few year ago..(The Change)..can
she give me a hand job that will amount to anything ? She use to before
the surgery and it was ok...

In my case the erection did not really make a difference. The feeling down there is just not the same. There has been some return of the sensation in that area when I am aroused, but it is nothing like before. Not sure if that has to do with nerves or what, but erect or not what I call the "pleasurable feeling" is greatly diminished. May as well be rubbing my elbow. :(((

Pumping takes a while. Do it twice a day for a few weeks before you give up
on waking something up. Also it helps if you engage your brain in the right
mode. I think in the beginning it is harder to do that as you are still so
busy with learning the mechanics of pumping.

I have a related observation, question.
I went the hormone, rad route about a year ago. With a 25 mg
Vitamin-V, I have an "adequate" erection.
Without an assist from Vitamin-V, I can sometimes manage a so-so
erection. Sometimes it seems adequate. Sometimes there's stirring
but it's soft. Sometimes, even when it's soft, I can orgasm and
produce about a half teaspoon of clear emission.
What puzzles me is that I used to be a, ah, longer session type.
That is, 10, 15 minutes of vigorous activity. Now it's more like a
couple minutes, a hundred strokes or so, and all the action is over.
My libido isn't anything like it used to be either.
I asked my doc to run a Testosterone blood test and I came in at
299, at the extreme low end of the "normal" range.

My experience is exactly the opposite on the session time. After the
surgery is takes well over an hour of stimulation to finally get to the
orgasm. That is one reason I do not bother very often. In the first few
months the orgasm was a whisper. That did get better over time. Viagra,
etc., does nothing for me. I can get an erection, a lot shorter than
before, with Caverject and trimix, but it is painful. No way to have
enjoyable intercourse with that.

You probably answered your own question, low testosterone.
We have found that we have had to adjust our lovemaking because, like you,
the timing is off. It takes more to get it going and then it doesn't last
very long. But it is getting better. So look for improvement with time.

I didn't have a testosterone measurement before or during this last
year. I did have one about 20 years ago. I don't remember the
numbers but the doc said I was "low-average".
Nubie Alert - Have a Testosterone assay done before the treatment
and maybe during it, especially if they're going to give you a
Lupron shot or other Hormone/chemo treatment.
Would be worth plotting against blood sugar, fatigue, mental fog,
and the little fine hairlets that sprouted on my head in the last
year.
The Testosterone 299 is fine with me, as is the shorter, ah, period
of stroking. As a formerly 10-15 minute (or longer) of vigorous
thrusting type, this isn't great but at least that part of the
plumbing is working.
The other phenomenum is that my "moment of joy" is accompanied by
urethral burning. This isn't bad either but it is definitely there.
It's the same sensation that I call "stinging while pee'ing". I'm
guessing that some nerves or maybe the urethral lining is still
recovering from the radiation.
The erections and orgasms started a couple months ago; that's about
2 months after the "declined" Lupron shot and 4 or 5 months after
the seeding. They were weak at first but gradually improved as the
weeks and months passed.
Your info is encouraging, it tells me, "keep practicing and things
may improve."
I realize that the cancer, the three treatments, the Lupron, the
IMRT, and the seeds, and the side effects from all the drugs, as
well as the side effects from the side effects, have knocked things
way outa whack.
I'm gradually pulling back from the abyss. I've got the sugars
almost normal, clocked a 111-fasting at the doc's, vitals are:
sugar 111 (was 300 on Lupron)
cholesterol 200 (down)
Triglycerides 163, was 900
A1c 6.4, was 11.
BP 120/72, was 140/80
My recent numbers are just slightly worse than they were before the
cancer, I'm working on em.
