Curtis, so sorry. I have been wrapped up in my own pain. How awful for you.
and her. :(
That is just another reason why I will never work in Adult care again, even
though Respiratory Therapists have major responsibilites and respect at
adult hospitals that are lacking at my pediatric hospital, they pull out all
the stops in Peds. damn the cost. sometimes for the good and sometimes for
the wrong reasons.
Somtimes you have to DEMAND better service. you are the Customer and they
are the vendor. sorry to say it but the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Why
won't they replace the stents at 60%. ?? I guess it must be so they charge
for the Heart Cath room, anesthesia, and all the assorted people there for
it. I used to go to Cath Lab when I worked adult care. I would stand there
until they told me to draw a blood gas (obtain blood from an artery in the
wrist or elbow crook) when ordered to. I got paid well for that or should I
say they charged well for my hour of waiting and 4-5 min of total work.
then they can charge again and again, meanwhile betty has to endure it over
and over. Remember, all you need is a good doctor. that doctor needs U way
more.
best wishes
Lori

====> been there on that one too. got a grandson who was born at 30
weeks and had a twisted intestine. he turned gray. got him to riley's
children hospital and they got him to pull through. the bill was 98,000
dollars and he has CP. he's almost 5 now, and can crawl on his arms and
verbalize a little, still in diapers and is around the age of an 18
month old.

======> they said that because of the risk of a heart attack or stroke,
they don't want to do the brachytherapy or angeoplasty until they are at
least 80 to
90% closed off.
but why duplicate the same process 4 or 5 months down the road and
charge for it all over again when they could have fixed it while they
were there right now?
Remember, all you need is a good doctor. that doctor needs U way more.
======> it's hard...... because as you know, with your medical
background, when you are being played.
the one doctor who was treating her for her blocked arteries should be
doing followups on a routine basis. but he knows there is very little
that can be done, but wouldn't say it to our faces, so instead. he
tells her that he wants to see her in 2 years and the appointment book
only goes up to 1 year. this is not what you say to a person who still
has five blockages in their heart, and like i said, he is suppose to be
recognized as the heart doctor around.
and this doesn't even begin to scratch the surface last year, when betty
was bleeding for over a year and had every possible test (and the
expense) ran on her only to not find the reason why she was bleeding,
but put bandaids on her condition by keep filling her up with more
blood.
i get so damn mad because i know that angiogensis is out there and could
help her, but they dropped her from the program saying she's too
"healthy" and won't accept her. if she was the president's wife, would
she have had the same treatment? look at dick cheney and how much heart
operations has he had and still going strong enough to be vice president
of the united states.
your comment was how they make money off our suffering. i've often
wondered about when a hospital is so worried about bed occupancy and OR
schedules, just where does the priorities lie? i've watch the local
hospitals start out as three separate hospitals slowly involve and now
is owned by one huge organization now.
if a hospital had all the latest life saving equipment available, they
better have a line backed out the door to pay for all the expensive
things inside that hospital is stocking.
i'll stop venting right now, but got plenty of rage inside...
