Trying to figger out Thunderbird Mail. Its Newsroup service (used for this
message) works well. But I cannot send mail for some reason. It likes my
outgoing SMPT server for this NG, but not for mail. Grrrr.
And the same question could be asked of David ;-)

Stephen J and David S,
Your exchange reminds me of a company I used to work for in the early
90's. E-mail had just started, and it got be one-up-man-ship as to who
sent e-mails the earliest in the morning or the latest at night. The
implication was that the person was working then. Then it was
discovered that we could manipulate the time-stamp! I'm sure the two of
you just happened to be up, but it made me laugh.

Honest, I do not know how to manipulate the time stamp.

The Army left a few lasting impressions on me. One is getting up early (the
others include making my bed and obeying my wife's orders). Just my body's
time clock I guess. I get up at 5:00 A.M. and usually am on the road by
6:00 and at work by 6:30 or so. The main idea is to avoid the traffic. You
should see what is out there at six in the morning - where are all those
people going, and why are there school buses picking up children at 6:30
A.M. - does that make any sense? Anyway, after 7:00 the roads change to
parking lots and I cannot handle that, thus the early arrival at work (and
my connection to the Internet).

Me too. If I get to I-74 before 7 A.M., it takes me about 12 minutes. If
it is one minute after, 20-30 minutes depending on the sun.

Oh, it is SO nice to be retired. Go to bed at 4 ayem and get up six
hours later. But I've always been a night person, and it stood me in
good stead whilst working for morning newspapers all those years.

Obviously, taking a test.
