It has been more than a year (March 9 2004) since I posted my
Contrarian all fours meditation report. Not very well received to say
the least. I have meant for a long time to update my situation for the
group but besides being contrarian I'm also a procrastinator.
Since that time I have undergone 35 days of External Radiation
Treatment and started 2 years of Zoladez needles.
The radiation treatment wasn't much fun but other than feeling weak
and urinating more than usual it wasn't all that bad. To this day
however I still have to go every hour and a half night and day. Last
week I asked my Doctor for sleeping pills and now I actually sleep 4 or
5 hours before getting up. I'm not going to do that more than 2 weeks
so I won't get addicted.
The Zoladex needles side effects have been limited so far to hot
flashes, which lately has become sweaty. I did have itchy nipples for a
month or so but no growth. I have of course lost the ability to have
sex and surprisingly (to me at least) I've lost the desire. Is that
common or is it just me?

That's what ADT does for us. No T = no sex drive.

Glad to see you back, Ben. Last we heard, your PSA was 18. That 0.1 looks
much better!

The bad news about HT is that you can't have sex; the good news is that
you won't care. (Or so I've been told.)

I was told the same thing by a doctor, but I found it was
not entirely true.
My sex drive disappeared, my interest went down to about
zero. But I decided to try anyway for the sake of my wife,
figuring I could satisfy her even if I couldn't get an
erection or get excited.
To my considerable surprise I found that my wife's arousal
got me aroused and I was able to do the whole thing. We
didn't do it as often during HT, but we did it and I got
something out of it each time.
I only had two HT injections totalling 4 months, though the
effects lasted about 6 months. It may be that a year or
more into it I wouldn't have been able to achieve as much as
I did. But I would urge everyone on HT who has a willing
partner to go ahead and try. At worst, you can do something
for your partner if not yourself. At best, you might be
very pleasantly surprised.
