Guys, thanks for your replies.
The clinic called me this morning and said that  robot assisted prostatectomy is
an "accepted" Medicare procedure (just as you said Steve U).
So another small step forward.
Thanks again
Guess I'll go back into lurk mode for now.

Don't know why you're rather lurk, but thanks for dropping regardless.

Steve,
It's not so much that I'd "rather" lurk; it's just that I don't think I have
much to contribute.
There are so many knowledgeable people here with a wide variety of experiences
that I just don't think I have much to add.
You can be sure I'll be reading everything that's posted here.

Ahhhh, a glutton for punishment!
Did I ever tell you my opinion on  . . .

I've only been reading this NG for a short time; but I would have never dreamed
that you had opinions <g>.

Yeah, it was as stupid statement.  Sorry about that.  All the people here,
lurking or otherwise, are here for a purpose and only for as long as that
purpose is satisfied.  If satisfied by lurking, so be it.

Don't sell yourself short, however.  What was the first thing you thought or
did when you heard the dreaded word, "cancer?"  Just that emotion can be
important to the next guy who joins our exclusive club.  One here, possibly
the most highly respected of us all during the 3 years I've been here, fell
down on his kitchen floor and bawled like a baby.  Many have expressed fear
bordering on terror.  A person newly coming into the forum would find that
comforting, I think, if he felt a terrifying fear or sadness.

And then, remember, this is a forum of peers.  Peers in PCa.  Lots of people
would like to know your symptoms, how you came to get that last PSA that
tipped your doc, what your PSA was, how old you are, what your Gleason and
Stage were, so they can see what your recommendation was based on the
statistics.  We've all been through it and it is of some interest to some to
see the process in others.

And then, some of us are friends.  They like to know about wives, children,
occupation, resident city, etc.

Finally, in general, we all like to know how your making it through.

Lurk if you like.  None of us mind.  But don't sell yourself short on early
contribution.

Steve,
No, it wasn't a stupid statement. I certainly didn't take offense - so no
apology is necessary.
Thanks for the thoughts re "being an early contributor" - I'll keep it in mind.
